This is Superman Returns: The Videogame, not Superman Returns: the Movie. With that said it’s only fair to review this game from a videogame’s perspective and not compare it to the movie. Yes, it has some elements from the film, but those elements were obviously too few to make a great game. And so, the developers wisely added additional elements that are derived from Superman lore, to include 70+ years of Superman history!I liked the fact that even though Superman is invincible, Metropolis is not. The city takes damage as chaos reigns. This feature has to be one of the greatest decisions ever made for a videogame. After all, protecting Metropolis and its citizens from all danger is Superman’s prime objective. And why ask why there are dragons in the city? Can you say Mister Mxyzptlk? Anything, and everything thing happens with that guy around.This game also gives you the ability to save your progress at anytime. So there is no excuse and reason to start over from the very beginning of a chapter.Overall the final product is astonishing; this is the BEST superman game ever made. Ever wanted to be the man of steel? This is your chance!

Good old game
I played this when it first came out and absolutely loved it. I did finish it but I’m going after some achievements I missed and even the free fly mode that lets you explore Metropolis is fun. Heres hoping they make a man of steel game (fingers crossed). One of my favorite ones was the death of superman back on the sega genesis.
Quite the opposite: Superman Returns is a fun, if repetitive game. Its admittedly weak story is loosely based on the eponymous movie (and thank God for that, because it really wouldn’t translate well) and you never really feel engaged by it. The game’s strength lies rather in its open-world formula, which conveys a “day in the life of Superman” vibe as you make use of the game’s best fleshed-out feature: Flying. And it does that quite well as you save the city from a number of threats and ensure the safety of its adoring inhabitants, making use of Superman’s veritable arsenal of powers. Blow your enemies into the air with super breath, burn them to a crisp with heat vision as they hurtle through the air… or encase them in ice with freeze breath, melt them down with heat vision and them blow their remains up into the air with super breath. Or just bash them with a lamppost, a car, a satellite antenna, even the classic telephone booth. The environment is interactive, not wholly destructible, but enough to make the fights feel appropriately epic. Combat is a bit clunky by today’s standards, but it’s intuitive and good fun as you chain combos along against the baddies. And when you’re done, you can just freely roam throughout Metropolis, fighting a veritable neverending battle.Saying it’s the best Superman videogame iteration doesn’t really mean much, considering the quality of its predecessors, but it really is the Big Blue’s best transition towards this particular form of ent.
I have no complaints on this game it is fun and my son loves to play it. the first level was alittle advanced for him but once past it he has been completing missions and having a blast.
yet another under-appriciated game. lots of fun but totally bashed by reviewers. but still a damn-fine game. based on the movie and decades of superman comics, movies and cartoons. a definate rent or buy must.
I purchased this for my son and he really likes it.
Everyone already knows this game sucks balls… but perhaps its only redeeming quality is that it simulates the fun and excitement of flying around like superman. This is about the only thing is game is good for. It is a superman flying simulator. Nothing more. And no less. So if you are a die hard sups fan and want to get this just for the flying mechanics, then there is currently nothing else out there that quite compares. But if you are getting this to play a real game, then you will be sorely disappointed.
bought this for my six year old son. he loves the open world and being able to fly around as superman with all his powers and saving or destroying the city. very happy with fast shipping and disk was in perfect shape.
