The latest edition of SSX comes at a great time. The XBox 360 really hasn’t had a good snowboarding title since it’s inception. The maps are fantastic, and are actually created based off of real runs. EA used NASA satellite images and digitally recreated them for this game. To the actual mountainscapes, EA added tons of unique jumps, drops, rails, and a myriad of other objects as you try to rack up the combo points or race to the bottom. The tricks are over the top ridiculous, which to me, is what makes this game so incredibly fun. Make no mistake, if you’re looking for a realistic snowboarding experience, you’re not going to find it here. Heck, if you screw up landing a jump, you can rewind the game in real time to perform the jump and/or landing the way you intended. The multiplayer is unique from most games, in that you can buy into events that you can win by playing and finishing the event within a set amount of time. This means you’re not going to compete with them in real time. You can also have soft competitions with your XBox Live friends whom also have SSX. If you put down 11,000,000 points on a run, your friend will have the opportunity to best that score. This can go on back and forth. For long term appeal, this will be a great incentive to keep playing for some gamers. The story line is pretty thin and the character development so far has been rather weak. I didn’t buy this game for a story line, so for me it takes nothing away from the experience, even in the main c.
Really fast, I love the game, played SSX3 and I wanted another SSX game, I got Shawn White Snowboarding game and it was too realistic and boring. found this game here and I couldn’t get it at gamestop or walmart so glad I got it at retrolio.
He is new to snowboarding and was real excited to receive at Christmas. Has been playing it and told me it was great. He is 10.
fun game for me but little one like adventure games more, still fun game
I am a fan of SSX Tricky and SSX3 on Gamecube. Although those will always remain as my all time favorites, this game comes pretty close.Pros: It is fun, fast-paced, and easy to advance without being extremely easy. The music is fun, and the graphics and locations are pretty cool.Cons: You can’t customize your character’s appearance as much as the old games. The "old" or veteran characters look completely different.Overall, if you are a fan of previous SSX games, definitely buy this product. I paid less than $20 USD. At that price, it is definitely worth it. At more than that? Maybe not.
This game is great. There is a story-ish mode and then a mode thats more similar to the older ssx games where you go for gold medals.
Great game. A little toooo fast.
Yes I was disappointed when I found out they dropped the 3D aspect and even more upset over them dropping splitscreen but this game is just plain fun. I’ve had it since Day 1 and keep going back for more. I just hope they add in splitscrren as DLC down the road. They have a variety of slopes and I feel I’ve barely made a dent of knowing all the places and how the runs are. Even though the game soundtrack is good I highly recommend making your SSX playlist from your computer with your favorite songs and hit the slopes again. It’s fun and relaxing even when you’re shooting hard for the higher scores. I hope this has resurrected the series and that we’ll see future titles with updates giving us fans what we asked for in the beginning.
I loved the old games. It brings me back great memories. This game is good to play. I like when they do tricks and gliding on the pole or whatever. Mostly, this game is awesome. The gameplay is great and the graphic is pretty darn good.
This is a truly great SSX game, IMHO. The style isn’t quite the same as SSX Tricky, but it’s refreshingly difficult to pull-off truly complicated moves, versus the more arcade-y "push a button and I’ll do my hardest trick"-type of control scheme used in many other extreme sports games (skateboarding games, snowboarding games, MX games, etc).I admit I waited for it to dip below $20 before I made a purchase, and if there’s a multiplayer element, I haven’t sampled it. I’ve had it for about a month and it satisfies the exact niche in my collection that I wanted it to: it’s a game that reminds me of the days of Tony Hawk 1 & 2 and the OG SSX Tricky on PS1, PS2, etc. It’s a game where I really feel compelled to pass the controller after my run, watch my friend try his best, and then take the controller back. Not a lot of games are setup to work well with that playstyle anymore.
