Great game played almost 2hrs when it arrived but it’s old school Sega you must buy it you will luv it
By reading the diffrent reviews about Spikeout around the net, it seems that very few people knew about this Sega classic. I was fortunate enough to enjoy this game back in 1999 when I was living in Japan. Spikeout: Digital Battle and the updated Spikeout: Final Edition was such a huge hit there, that Sega arcades in Akihabra and Shinjuku have more then half of their basement floor area dedicated to Spikeout machines (and it is rare to find an empty machine to boot.)Although the home port is several years late, I’m a happy camper that this game is finally made it to my living room. Although I do agree with all the diffrent reviews about this game (such as bad ai, outdated graphics and its difficulty level.) the fun factor, especially when playing with 3 other people is possibly the best in its genre. Many people who dislike the game say that the gameplay is not deep and it is a pure botton masher. The reality is, you wont get very far in the game if you just mash bottons because this game has loads of combos, team combos and juggles. There is nothing more funny and satisfying to pull out 100 plus team combos on one poor boss together with your spikeout buddies.Though I have to admit that despite of all the great new characters and content, the graphics seems to be watered down compared to the original arcade version. Also playing solo is a brutal and painful experience unless your a hardcore fan (then again, even in the arcade version, going solo is not a good idea). So solita.
Its a fun and exciting game that keeps me occupied for hours upon hours that’s the only game that i play through out the day
A great co op games love it plenty of action easy to play .Some of the old games are some of the best.Hd remake would be nice.
Thanks
When I played this game it reminded me of the days when I used to play Final Fight on my SNES. If you like brawlers you’ll enjoy this game.
There’s not to much to say, this is a very fun beat-em-up that’s quite similar to Dynamite Deka (Die Hard Arcade) or Streets of Rage. You can pick up items to be used as weapons and you can unleash powerful special attacks when things looks desperate. If you enjoy games of this genre you’re sure to enjoy this one. There’s only two things to be aware of: the default controls make pulling off certain moves difficult (though they can be reconfigured) and the game is HARD. You’re guaranteed to become frustrated as you get knocked out near the end of a level and are forced to restart from the very beginning. Arcade mode has continues, but to unlock stages you have to progress through story mode where no such convenience exists. Easy mode gets enabled after you lose a stage twice, but even then levels can be fairly difficult.Overall though this is a great underrated gem for the original Xbox and a worthy addition to anyone’s collection.
After being disappointed with Final Fight: Streetwise, I was looking for a decent brawler for the original Xbox.Although being a brawler junkie, I had previously never heard about Spikeout. I then discovered a YouTube video with a playthrough of the original 1998 arcade game. Spikeout may not be as good as Sega’s better-known brawler series such as Dynamite Deka or Streets of Rage, but for brawling fans like me it’s still a worthy romp.Spikeout: Battle Street is the sequel to the 1998 arcade that takes place 10 years later, with 15-year old Spike Jr- the son of the original main protagonist returning to defend his hometown against NeoInferno. You have the options of playing through the story mode or arcade. Playing through storymode will unlock a few new stages and characters along with showing the soap opera-style plot unfold. There are no continues, however, and I am ashamed to say that it took me several tries on easy mode to finally beat it. The arcade mode offers the story-free version with continues. The controls are fine; you can either use the thumbstick or d-pad, and there are different control schemes. There is no option to customize. Each character has their own unique stock of moves with several having almost the same special move. The graphics are cartoonish but they work and help to give the game it’s own unique feel.
