If you’re a fan of old school ninja games, you can’t afford to miss out on this classic. The graphics and music are high caliber for Sega Genesis. The stage designs are cool. The control is spot-on for the most part. You have a nice assortment of moves including being able to block, wall jump, jump flip, and drop kick. The only possible quibble with the control is that the jump flip takes some practice to be able pull off consistently and you have to be able to do it in the later stages. But therein lies the challenge.Speaking of challenge, while there is some tricky platforming near the end, this game lacks the frustration factor of other tough ninja games such as "Revenge of Shinobi" also on the Genesis and the "Ninja Gaiden" series on the NES, at least on the regular difficulty. The default difficulty might be _too_ easy with its huge life bar so I recommend setting it to expert. You can also try beating it without dying, without using magic, or even without using shurikens. So there is replay value. Beating the game is one thing, mastering it is another. And "Shinobi III" is so much fun to play that you’ll want to master it.
Very fun and action packed game. Well ahead of it’s time, and it came out back in 1993!
This was chosen as the best among the competition. It works well on Game Boy Advance SP (GBA SP). The graphics are good, as is the sound (I turn off the music). The game play is good, but the buttons can be slightly confusing (they switch depending on what is happening), so you may want to consult the manual. The stadium details are very good and required if you are a fan of a particular team and/or stadium.
I have been trying to find a good baseball game for ps2 or gameboy with the classic teams like some of the old negro leagues. This is the first game that i have seen that has them. if u have a spare 20.00 buy this game on gba.
Very hard but Very fun. The genesis had some great titles on it, and this series is right up there. It feels great to hack and slash through hordes of enemies with your ninja reflexes.
And maybe the best Ninja game ever! Shinobi 3 is by far the best of the Shinobi series on the Sega Genesis. Both the original Revenge Of The Shinobi and Shadow Dancer Secret Of The Shinobi is another good game but this one is by far the best. The story line is a little cliche and the plot does seem a bit regurgitated; but lets move on to the important stuff. The gameplay is by far the biggest stand out. Shinobi can do just about anything a realistic human warrior can do; besides summon dragon spirits for fire and using his body like a human bomb and shield himself with lightning. Joe mousashi can do air somersaults and climb across ledges; has a wide variety of melee attacks that include different dashing and jumping attacks. What also sets this game apart to is it makes use of a hook element like in Strider and also you can block your opponents attacks as well. The levels are very long and graphics are colorful. What also makes this game what it is was the excellent music that accompany you through the various levels. I would recommend this game to anybody. One of the top 10 or even 5 I would say for the Genesis.
All my recent reviews are for games (verified purchases) that are essential for Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Sega Genesis. It’s been tough finding games that are "mandatory" for the Sega Genesis because so many, like the Golden Axe games and the Altered Beast games, actually suck. They might have been great games when they first hit the market, but today they aren’t fun at all to play. Finding games that are quintessential plays for the Sega Genesis and hold their own compared to the Super Nintendo library is tough, but there are a few. One such game is Shinboi III Return of the Ninja Master.Let’s go ahead and acknowledge the fact that there is in fact a sub-genre of video games based upon playable ninja characters. The most obvious examples are the three Ninja Gaiden games on the Nintendo and the three Shinobi games on the Sega Genesis, plus the original Shinobi on Nintendo and the Sega Master system. The gamers that really embrace the "ninja video game" experience relish the insane challenges of these games, and Shinobi III is often viewed as "too easy" to be a real ninja video game.I disagree with this view. Shinobi III is one of the great Genesis games. First off, let’s go ahead and trash-talk Ninja Gaiden for failing the 16-bit age. The Super Nintendo was such a great console, and there should have been a Super Ninja Gaiden game. Why did they sit out the console wars? Sega Genesis got the Shinobi trilogy, which is three really unique ninja video.
Not bad. It’s pretty good game. The only thing I don’t like is the pace of the game. It takes 30 – 45 min just to finish 1 game. I wish there was a way to speed up the game…
Brings back memories
Great for my collection.
