Quick service got it well e fore I was promised
It is simply a fun game at a very good price.
As expected.
Underrated RPG. Enjoying this a lot more than I thought. While it has a pirate theme, it’s not like AC:Black Flag. Not much naval action. You are on foot, exploring for most of the game. It’s still fun and something different. The Dungeons and dragons style RPG has been done to death. I never played the first 2, and it doesn’t matter, I don’t feel like I don’t know what’s going on. There have been 2 or 3 references to what happened in the prior games, but that’s about it. I put around 70 hours in my first play though. There are 3 factions to join, and you can only join one, so you can do 3 play throughs if you want the full experience. Great game for the price, for sure.
Wish they had it for PS4
This is simply a great RPG. It’s so vast and I really cannot wait to go deeper, but what I’ve seen and played so far have really wet my appetite!!!The graphics don’t look as good as something on the PS4, but they’re darn good in my opinion. The gameplay is just fun. Pure fun. I was going to hold off buying this because of Sacred 3 (But I didn’t buy Sacred 3 and Would not until it’s a bargain bin item). This is a true open-world action RPG, and it will be my home for the next month at least. The only thing that will get me away from Risen 3, on occasion, is my time playing Diablo 3 on the PS4, which comes out next week.I haven’t dug deep enough to notice bugs, etc. but so far there have been no glitches. I’ll update my review if I run into any, but I feel very confident in this title stealing many, many hours of my limited free time.My only wish is that they could have released it on the PS4, but it’s not a big deal. I may even buy the PC version, because it just feels so amazingly immersive (and HUGE)!
Purchased this from Gamestop.. Saw all the negative reviews and thought I’d add My opinion.. Really enjoying it so far..
While this game may have it’s flaws, I’m really enjoying it. I’ve never played the other "Risen" games, but that doesn’t seem to matter. I like that it is neither TOO challenging nor too easy. Halfway through, I don’t have a ridiculous amount of unspendable gold, nor am I "invincible"…(as experienced in the Elder Scrolls games). I can see this as a good fit for more "casual" gamers and/or older players (i.e. those who started on the ORIGINAL Playstation) like myself. If you like "classic" RPGs, are feeling no strong urge to upgrade your PS3 and want to romp around the Caribbean as a nameless, snarky-but-mostly-nice (or NOT nice; your choice!) pirate, give this one a shot. A few bits of advice: Be patient- your character is REALLY weak and untrained after being resurrected! Also…get the Fog Island DLC (and go grab "Freddy’s Shackles") EARLY in the game! And finally, DON’T get the game if coarse language is an issue. These guys swear "like sailors"!
I’d like to speak mainly about this game’s mechanics with regard to widespread criticism that the combat is obtuse and clunky. This is a combat system that rewards practice and needs to be learned. Even if you’ve played the previous Risen games, you will get slapped around at the start of Risen 3, which ties thematically into a storyline involving the protagonist losing his ‘spirit’ and consequently much of his skill. Simply put, you are quite weak at the start and need to reacquire skills you possessed during the introductory sequence of the game (sneaking, riposte, etc.). But combat is far from unmanageable during your first few hours in your diminished state–you can always use an ally to redirect enemy aggression, and you have a fast dodge from the start. As you build yourself back up, combat becomes quite fluid and fun, with entirely new attack speeds, combo patterns, and evades opening up as you progress (you can even get a fantastic teleport-dash to replace your old roll). Additionally, there’s a wonderful level of customization in combat style; you can be anything from a sword-wielding voodoo shaman to a shotgun-toting elemental mage depending on which factions and trainers you pursue. This adds to the game’s replay value, both in terms of narrative and character abilities (you can side with only one faction per playthrough, with the full skill set of a faction becoming available after you’ve committed yourself to it).My criticism is the lack of a hard lock-on during.
OVER 400 SIDE QUEST. FUN GAME
