It’s a mixture of Doom with Fall out, you are in a post apocalyptic world, filled with threats and you must survive by completing missions and collecting stuff so you can sell it to buy weapons and stuff.
This game was fun to play… Shooting and fighting the ugly peoples was fun… And hilarious you’ve got to try it if you got a ps3…. Plus the game worked great… 4 in a half Stars..
A buddy and I sat down and finished this game two days ago. It starts off a bit slow and you dont get alot of “setup” info. But as the story unfolds and you get into it leveling up your car, moving from town to towm, mission to mission, it becomes a fun and different experience. I wasn’t sure about it when I bought it but I now dont regret it and would like to see a RAGE 2 sometime in the future.
To the casual observer, Rage may portray itself as just another post-apocalyptic RPG/Shooter hybrid.I have encountered many comparisons to both Fallout and Borderlands in my travels. While there is noticeable commonground between them, Rage manages to inject enough creativity and uniqueness to justify it’s own existence as an original, and thoughtful gaming experience, and not a copycat. The environmental detail in this game is staggering how realistic it is. I almost died several times while I was simply admiring my meticulously crafted surrounding’s. The amount of care, and attention to detail that must have went into developing this world is simply beyond my comprehension. It’s breathtaking, and it’s the best looking game on consoles. The gameplay is deep, yet very intuitive and accessible. Honestly, Rage is very smooth across the board. The gunplay is varied, with different ammo types for each weapon. Enemy encounters often require tactical thinking, and strategy. Considering the computer AI is so immensely intelligent, conventional shooter methods of engagement would prove futile. Enemies will smoke out campers, dodge incoming attacks, and always respond in such an individualistic way, that there really is no scripted enemy response pattern. This makes the shooting segments so utterly enjoyable for me.I was initially a bit apprehensive about the implementation of vehicular combat, as i was concerned that it would would come off as tacked on and half-baked (looking at you B.
I’ve killed about six hours with the game so far, at least half of the single-player mode I’ve been told. So far I’m less than amazed. As your Doom Guy (don’t even pretend he’s anyone else) wakes up from his chambered sleep, the graphics instantly amaze. Metal comes in varying degrees of rust and shine, the sky is sharp, and rocks all have a rough texture that pops out of the screen. This high detail comes at a price, however: changing focus from near to far objects creates blurs and texture popping, even while standing still. occasionally while driving, horizontal lines will stutter across the screen. Generally you’ll be too occupied to notice these things, but it is a constant issue. You’ll spend about ten, fifteen minutes in the game before you get the obligatory crappy pistol, and perhaps an hour before you have a decent selection of weapons. They all have “weighty” sounds – unlike some games where shotguns go off like bottle rockets – and the FPS controls act nicely. Please ignore all the idiots that say this controls like Fallout 3 or Borderlands, though there is a slightly smaller resemblance to the latter. As I shuffled between blasting mutants in the face with my shotgun and slicing their heads off with a doomerang, what immediately came to my mind was Bioshock’s primary weapons and its d-pad of gadgets. The amount of weapon customization and scavenging seem roughly the same, too. You could even switch the sun-blasted desert with Rapture’s little aquarium and.
I do not buy the hype much these days, you get stung way to much. I rented this at redbox and decided to buy it. It started really slow and I kept plugging away and loved the way it developed. I decided to buy it and I found the anarchy edition at wally world, the spiffs are nice to have in the game and the gloves or blades work well if you are in a spot and need to punch it out. All I can say is I like it, Im having fun, Im grinding the hell out of it, doing all the side quests and races. I like the way the cars and weapons feel and sound, Im using the ps3 surround headphones and it sounds fantatstic. You need the surround to listen for the baddies. I have seen some great reviews here. This game works well, loads slow and holds its own. If you grind this game to extract your money worth there is no way you are going to find all the easter eggs and finnish in 13 hours. Im into it longer than that and Im just getting ready to leave wellspring to the next part. I still have races to do, two job board entries and 1 round of mail left. All I can say is that if you buy a game, start it on at least hard and do all the work before you write it off…This game was worth the money and looks great.. but the jury will not be out till the game is over…Ill do a couple of play throughs and trade it on dark souls… Ill have to look up any future DLC
good game
The graphics are outstanding and the game play is fluid. RAGE is absolutely one of the most visually stunning games ever. The reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is the stories ending. Here you have this complex story, and side stories, and after days of investment the story just ends! It’s almost like the developers couldn’t figure out an ending so they stopped working on it. Very dissappointing.
Great game, I enjoyed it thoroughly! It’s like Fallout on steroids! Except you CAN’T do as much exploring around. The graphics are unbelievable! Five stars!
I didn’t know what to expect with Rage, id Software’s new game. When I’d first read the description of the game, I thought to myself, “How is this going to make for an interesting game?”. Yet, after booting up Rage on my Playstation 3, I can see how it does. Straight from the get-go, Rage pulls you into its’ story. It goes a little something like this: The world is nearly wiped out by an asteroid. You emerge from an underground vault, prematurely, to find a world that’s not a very friendly place. Not very friendly to you, of course. Through a series of missions, side quests and whatnot; you find out why. Despite it’s variety of missions and so on, Rage is primarily a traditional FPS.First thing you’ll notice in the game is the detail to the graphics of the game. Everything loooks photo-realistic. Not only that but the areas you visit are brimming with life. NPCs and enemies react just as we would in real-life, according to the situations(That’s something that made Rage all the more believable to me). If you come into Rage thinking it to be like past id Software games, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find out that things things are much different this time around. Enemies react accordingly when you fire at them or swing at them. The towns and areas you visit and do battle in actually feel inhabited and lived in. It’s really hard to explain all the nuances about the game that draw you in but id has did so with this game. Course, six years in the making has really paid off wit.
