Sega Genesis’ Batman & Robin is an incredibly hard game. Not difficult. HARD. Ridiculously hard. However, it’s always compelling. This is the type of game you’ll want to play through many times, despite dying a lot. Trust me, you will die. A lot.The game plays wildly differently than its SNES counterpart. It doesn’t try to emulate the show its based on nearly as much. Instead, what we’re left with is an incredibly original, incredibly beautiful, 2D run and gun, akin to something like Sunset Riders, or most games in the original Contra series. Instead of shooting bullets, you throw batarangs. You can’t shoot your batarangs while moving, but considering a lot of the game relies on accuracy since you’ll mostly be shooting enemies on two different planes, this isn’t a problem. The way the game handles just makes sense in context of itself.You start the game in a beautifully rendered line scrolling stage that takes place on the streets of Gotham city. You can choose to play as either Batman or Robin from the outset, but there are no differences in the way they play. The game does support an incredibly awesome 2-player mode that will ease the difficulty a bit, and it also runs very smoothly. The game as a whole is downright gorgeous. Between all of the line scrolling that gives the game a nice 3D effect, tons of enemy sprites on screen, awesome explosion effects, a perfectly executed art style, and superb animation, this is hands down one of the best looking Genesis games you can g.
I haven’t even technically gotten past level 1 yet! The game is very difficult. After a lot of game overs, I finally beat Harley Quinn for the first time, only to have to go through more goons and Harley 2 more times. Then I got to an impossible level just to get up to the Joker, and he was practically impossible! It’s great fun, especially if you are a big Batman fan, and is certainly a challenge (even for experienced gamers)!

This is one of Batman’s best games out there, and for fans, can’t be missed. Graphics are nice, the music is decent, and the story does the cartoon justice. It’s too bad the gameplay is only average; it gets old kind of fast and could have used improvement.
I’ve had this game for many years and it doesn’t get old! The graphics are great on the Genesis and there is a load of different environments to fight in. There is even a level where you fly above the city in attack hang gliders. I would definitely pick up this game if your a Batman fan or love the old Genesis games, a must have for any serious gamer! :-)
Works great, no problems at all
I got this game today and I started playing with my brother and it gets really crazy…we haven’t even passed the first level yet because of the vast amount of thugs and the boss at the end. Yes it is a hard game but it takes practice and with all the mayhem going on it basically makes you want more and more. The gadgets are pretty cool..still have to figure out what most of them are since the game I got doesn’t come with a manual. The only real downside to this game is that when you’re against the boss after a stage and you lose 3 of your lives you can’t continue to fight and help your partner till after the boss is killed. You basically have to wait till the next level to come back into the game. And if both of you lose 3 lives its basically game over and you have to start over…I’m not sure if you have to start at the first level again or just at the beginning of whatever level you’re at cause I haven’t gotten that far yet…anyway this is getting confusing. Good game, great challenge. Word.
I purchased my copy of this from the_gamevault. It got here in a few days. The cartridge showed signs of wear after 25 is years. Cleaned the contacts on the pub with a little alcohol and it worked the first time. I’m very happy with my purchase.
