I played the first prototype a couple of weeks ago, and loved it, it became my favorite game. Then i saw this one, bought it, and it was a hundred times better than the original!! The Gameplay is amazing, as well as the graphics, they really stepped it up for the sequel!
Well this game sure was a surprise! When Prototype came out a few years back I bought InFamous instead–they both came out around the same time–and loved it. Upon trading it for Prototype with a friend, I found that I just could not get into it and quit after a few hours. retrolio recently had Prototype 2 on sale so I took a chance, and it paid off big time! I could not put Prototype 2 down at all this past weekend. It grabbed me early on with its constant rewards and steady character progression/improvement which had me wanting to play just one more mission, or unlock just one more skill or upgrade.The plot is fairly straightforward and generic, but luckily cutscenes and story bits are interesting and brief enough to keep me from getting frustrating between the action. But the real reason to play Prototype 2 is to mince, crush and murder your way through the three areas of New York City presented in the game. World traversal is some of the best I’ve ever experienced in an open world action game. Protagonist James Heller can sprint across open ground as fast as a vehicle, literally runs up the faces of buildings and structures (no clunky climbing like in InFamous – note: InFamous will be referenced a few times as that series looks and plays very similarly to Prototype), jumps vertically like a cat on steroids, and zips and glides through the sky in a fashion that would make most superheroes green with envy. Traversing through the game is rarely a chore and always a pleasure. O.
I’m going to admit that I was not impressed from what I saw of "Prototype" when the original was released. The "overness" of the powers reminded me too much of "The Force Unleashed." It just seemed way too over the top and "powers for no reason." This was also the same time that "inFamous" came out. When I saw how eerily similar they were, I chose the later, rather than the former.Given that, when the second "Prototype" came out, I passed again. However, given that my P$3’s disc reader died (way to go Sony!), I have been forced to use Playstation Plus for my gaming needs (oh library of games, you may get played again…someday). When the second appeared for January 2015’s free game, I decided why not give it a go, as I really didn’t have any other choice. Let me tell you, this has been one of the best decisions I have made when it comes to games! This game is so well done that it really deserves it’s own spotlight.At first, this game is way too similar to "The Force Unleashed" you have these grandiose powers that just seem way too much for one person to handle. The game often isn’t very tight in combat and can feel a bit "loose" in the locking mechanic. However, when you need to kill a mess load of people, that is minor in comparison. It only hurts you in precision tactics (yes, this got me a couple of times while tying to avoid red alerts). The main character, Heller also leads over into a very Kratos fashion. H.

The first “Prototype” was a game that, despite it’s amazing potential, fell short of what it was capable of by the last few hours of the game. While it was an enjoyable experience for sure, there was a certain type of magic missing, not to mention a decent mission structure and polished gameplay. This gamer loved it, but knew that there was much more Radical could have done to match the greatness of their fantastic last-gen title, “The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.” But given that people love running up walls and blowing things up in video games historically, it sold well enough for Activision to give the talented developer another crack at the franchise. That’s a good thing, because while “Prototype 2” will certainly not be the best game you play this year, it will give you some of the best times you’re going to have with one.Taking off a few years after the initial entry, this sequel puts you the boots of Army sergeant James Heller, who has lost his wife and daughter to the Mercer virus that has turned New York City into a parasite-infested wasteland. Fueled by PTSD from the Iraq War and rage from losing his family, Heller swears vengeance on Alex Mercer, the originator of the virus. For those unfamiliar with the franchise, Mercer was the protagonist of the first game, and seeing him in a whole new light really broadens the scope and perspective within the continuity. In this, he’s a maniacal sociopath who has been corrupted by the virus that turned him into a supe.
Great game concept! Very similar to the style of Infamous 1&2 but with not as fluid movement.Worth playing cause its fun. Like Resident Evil meets, GTA, meets Infamous.
