Anytime you can find a Disney movie combo pack for your kids buy it. This movie provides a blu-ray disk for at home, a DVD for a laptop or friend’s house, and a digital copy for the road. Combining all these formats allows for maxmum viewing options based on a family’s rapidly changing schedule. I recommend anyone grab a Disney movie while it’s out of the vault. It might be a decade or two before you get another chance. Yes it’s a marketing ploy, but it works. That’s why Disney continues to do it.As for this movie our kids love the storyline of Peter, Hook, and, for whatever reason, the crocodile. The timeless story is worth getting for your own Kindergarten/Elementary aged children.
Peter Pan: a long-awaited addition to Disney’s Blu-ray canon that somehow makes my collection feel more whole, more complete. It isn’t just a personal favorite either. It’s one of Walt Disney’s most beloved animated classics, one of the studio’s greatest treasures and arguably the best Disney animated feature released in the 1950s. It has survived controversy — Tiger Lily and the Indians are still considered racially offensive in various circles — and weathered criticism about the liberties Uncle Walt and his screenwriters took with J.M. Barrie’s 1904 play and 1911 children’s novel. And yet no censorship has been perpetrated and very little criticism has prevailed. It’s a high-flying, swashbuckling adventure in the true spirit of the original and, in many ways, was the first production, on stage or off, to lend a thrillingly palpable sense of magic, grandeur and storybook fantasy to Barrie’s text. Even today, some sixty years after its theatrical release, Peter Pan remains a magnificent animated film, as truly timeless as any Disney classic that came before it or come since.
Both the video and the sound on this BluRay are state-of-the art. The colors are really true, and are a little bit darker than they were in the previous DVD release (as can be seen when you watch the extra features which were produced for the earlier DVD release and feature color that has been “corrected” into a brighter, more-pastel-ish look). The outlines of the animated characters are also sharper in this BD release than in previous issues. The extra features in this set are substantial and very interesting. I won’t discuss them here, but I will say that you’re really missing out if you’ve purchased this combo set and don’t avail yourself of watching the extras.A great release from Disney.Highly recommended.
Disney’s Peter Pan is a timeless classic, not only because people say so but because it lives up to the name as time goes by. Created in 1953, 27 years before I was born, I loved it when I was 5, when I was 20 and now at 33 I love it still. It is the tale of a perpetual boy who never seems to grow up, the forever child inside of most men. While the cliché portrayal of Native Americans would probably offend some were the movie made today, on the whole it is childish in a good way that most people will still find novel in our overly cynical and politically correct modern world. The video quality and sound are excellent and the extras are surprisingly entertaining. All around, this is an extraordinary purchase for a classics or animation collection. Based on Scottish playwright J. M Barrie’s stage show, Peter Pan thrills as a program for young people and adults alike with its approach of exploring one’s imagination through positive encouragement. To Peter Pan, anything is possible. Nothing is more than a happy thought away. It is very uplifting and educational in an age when children’s dreams and very ability to dream are under constant attack by the dangerous and cynical world we adults are creating year after year. There is plenty of time to be serious – everyone can use a break from that now and then. And this movie helps a lot. The video and audio have been so cleaned up that it looks like it was only released this year except, of course, for the fact that it is not.
IS THERE A “LOST” OR “STOLEN” SCENE DELETED FROM PETER PAN?PLEASE REFER TO THE TWO REVIEWS LISTED BELOW.This brings me to my question: as a kid, I had both a 33 1/3 record with songs from Disney movies and a tall book based on the movie. On the record, there was a song, “Do You Believe in Fairies? (Then Clap Your Hands)” which was played when Tinkerbell almost died. In the book, Peter gets Wendy and all the children to clap their hands to bring Tinkerbell back to life. I know I’m not dreaming this up – I still have both the record and the book. Both my sister (who’s ten years older than I) and myself seem to remember that this was originally in the movie. Can anyone shed some light on this for us?Reviewer: Did I miss something in watching this version? I seem to recall that when Tinker Bell’s light is fading the audience is asked to repeat that “I believe in fairies” or something to that effect. However, in this version, that portion has been edited out. Peter locates Tinker Bell as her light is fading and we know she is seriously injured and then it simply cuts to the pirate ship and then Peter and Tinker show up just fine with no explanation of how she survived. What gives? Political correctness of an anti-belief in fairy type?WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THIS PART OF THE STORY? I READ ALL 103 REVIEWS AND somebody suggested that the new DVD had an extra “Deleted” scean? or storyboard that explained the missing part? any of you out there can confirm this? thanks
This movie is perfect for my 3 year old son. He was entranced from the get go. Loved the music and thinks pirates are amazing. Definitely a great treat for him!
comes in other languages such as french so great DVD

What can you say about a Disney clasic and retrolio fast service, paired a great combination. This movie is a great one and brings alot of memories, my sister took me to see it in the early 50s in a theator. She has passed now, but this brings memories of her back. This a must have for any collection for all who have children as it gives a guidence to its story unlike today. To think of the work on the way it was made and the time it took to make this from hand is fantastic. I guess I am old school, but you young people need to see what a clasic is and for the rest of us we will return to a memory.
I have loved this movie ever since I saw it on the Disneyland TV show in the early 1950’s. It absolutely enthralled me.The masterful animation, the fascinating story and the uplifting music go a long way in making the delicious fantasy almost seem true.As in all good, juicy stories, characters give each other a rough time. Captain Hook stalks Peter Pan and even gives him a deadly bomb! Peter Pan also taunts the good captain. The crocodile also does his best to make Captain Hook’s life a misery. Funny how the PC police never bring up these male-on-male confrontations. But once Tinkerbell gets jealous of Wendy, or the mermaids act uppity, then we are dealing with female-on-female bullying, and that doesn’t go over with the ladies nowadays. Never mind that it’s a fact of life.As for the caricatured native American stereotypes, that’s all they are. Unhappily, a lot of caricatures are exaggerated images which have grown up around a kernel of truth. And they apply to all races. As a white male, my biggest nightmare is that I may someday actually look like Homer Simpson, Elmer Fudd or Popeye. But I’ll just have to take my chances.Kids are very sensitive to the energy around them, and if you sit there watching Disney’s Peter Pan with them in a guarded, PC resistance-stance, they’ll tune right into it and then get turned off.Why not lighten up, and take this film on its own wonderful fantasy terms? That positive energy will enhance the experience for your little ones. If ever a f.
