I was excited by a new One Piece game. I enjoyed the fact the other games actually followed the story more, where as this one seemed more of a fun scenario that lets you visit old islands and bosses but with the entire crew since it is after the two year gap (Mermaid Island, Punk Hazard, Arabasta, Skypiea and more). There is a reason and a story to follow along for this involving a cute tanuki who joins the crew and his boss as the main villain. I love the the characters have their own perks and style a bit so it was fun being able to switch between them. You can pick up to three characters per mission and easily change who you play as. The hardest part is choosing the three! The environments are quite fun to explore. And different than previous games I would say this is closer in feel to Naruto’s Ninja Storm games. There is a main village you can explore, talk to people, (as luffy you can fling yourself up and on roofs as well), take on mini quests, get your items, etc. I finished the story mode but will most likely still pick up the game to play around in.
good game.
excellent product
perfect
I’m loving the new One Piece game. The controls work great, and it’s a blast slinging around the city with Luffy. The game is broken up into episodes and at the end of each episode or level you fight a boss. These battles are one of the best parts of the game. I also really liked the ability to upgrade the town by adding new businesses.I especially like how The combat system works and the ability to change characters anytime during a mission. Also, as you progress in the game your characters will start to level up and get stronger. On top of that all the characters have their own special move that players can use after charging up the special bar. You charge up the special bar by simply fighting enemies. The main story missions take about 9 to 10 hours to complete, which feels a little short, but the story is very entertaining for its length. On the other hand it does have the original Japanese audio with good English subtitles. This One Piece games is also available on PS Vita, but that version is a GameStop Exclusive.I also wanted to point out that the animation and graphics look amazing. One Piece: Unlimited World Red is well worth your time.Update:I just wanted to point out that this game is not turn based like one reviewer has said, but rather your standard button bashing RPG style action game.
I just beat the game today, I bought it the first time it came out. I already knew that this game was going to be super short that’s why I took my time but it was all worth it. The last One Piece game I played was Grand Adventure for the Gamecube and that game was superb, I really liked it. Now about this game, I’d say graphic wise it is phenomenal from the artwork, design, mechanics, shadow, colorin, etc. Gameplay, its a bit redundant but it isn’t so bad because you get to see new foes or get different items despite having to do the same or similar mission from before. The story is extremely short though the idea of having Red to be the villain is quite impressive as you’d see the recurring cast from the past (play it to see in further detail). I feel that the game was rushed, I think Oda could have added a few more components to the game. As a fan, I don’t have any regrets owning the game, I just thought it could have plenty more extras especially being produced fot the PS3. I hope in the future, One Piece gets more and more recognized in the west so it could publish more games because its rather unfair Bleach and Naruto has more games.
thanks
