I buy a lot of sports games, but hockey is not one that I buy every year. In fact it’s been quite a few years since I have purchased one, but after having so much fun playing NHL 10 for the past few weeks I’m wondering why that is.Almost all of the negative reviews up here are because of freezing issues and bugs when the game first launched, but I canassure that the recent updates have cleared all of those up. The game somehow manages to feel like a real live breathinghockey game, but still retaining the same level of fun that the NHL 94-95 games did so well. In fact, you can even chooseto simplify the controls to mimic the same controls from those early games.The controls while complicated, are pretty intuitive and give you more control than you’ve ever had before in all facets ofthe game. The new board play is easy to use and also does a good job of making the game more realistic to it’s real life counterpart. The new fighting can happen frequently, but you also usually have the option of just skating away from an opponent who is looking to dance with you after the whistle.The game is beautiful to watch, with lots of life like animations. The sounds are all authentic and dead on – hitting the post with a shot is frustrating but sounds really great. The AI goalies are pretty good so you will probably spend a good amount of time practicing your offense and deking defenseman. All in all, I can’t recommend this game highly enough. NHL 10 is the greatest hockey game I’ve ever pl.
Fun
Well after taking a long break from hockey, and hearing about the huge success of NHL 09, I decided to buy NHL 10 in hopes of falling in love with the sport again. Loving the game so far!!
i can honestly say that this is best sports game that i’ve played in a long time. i gave it a chance (after having never played hockey on consoles) because of various reviews, and can honestly say that this may be the best EA game this year that i played. graphics are very good. they are much better than Madden or NCAA football, which i both own. maybe they use different engines, or whatever, but still NHL is much better. everything seems clear and shiny. player models are excellent. moves they perform are very good and almost exactly copied from their real life counterparts. various game modes such as shootout and others are very good. online gaming is spotless. all in all i highly recommend this game to everyone that has any interest in hockey or just in console sports gaming. you wont regret it.
NHL 10 is by far my favorite NHL game that I have played. Spending over 100 (maybe even 200+) hours in the game means to me that it was excellently done. Of course, the graphics aren’t the best and it has it’s flaws, but I love the feel to this game. Recently picked up NHL 12 and I do like that one as well. This one just has a classic feel to it. Great, great game!
I may sound cheesy when I say 08 was great, 09 was fine but 10 is a 10. When I purchased a PS3 I never thought that all I would play was hockey. Football would have been my first choice. This hockey franchise is so amazing that it makes me feel like I am on the ice. The detail and realism is second to none. I am just scratching the surface of this game, but when I am at work, I am thinking of this game constantly. When I get home it’s GAME ON. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up. It is the best. Save The Phoenix Coyotes!!!!

Great graphics, realistic game play. Great to play with the kids. I’m definitely an amateur gamer, and we just got PS3. This was our first game. I would definitely recommend this for hockey fans and to those trying to introduce their kids to hockey. It has definitely increased my kids interest in the game a lot. The feature to instigate fights is pretty cool.
The graphics are great and they added more options for both the NHL and AHL games, as well as Be a Pro. It just keeps getting better and better!
This game is great if you’re an NHL fan. Creating a player and getting him on my team was a little confusing at first, but I figured it out. The graphics, animations and movements of the players are amazing. I actually don’t want to go to work because I want to play the game all day.
