I am writing this review for my daughter who bought it. The price point was pretty good ($20) and she had been wanting this game for a while. She saved up her allowance and she went for it. She has practiced and played enough where I am thoroughly impressed with her creations. Sh.e is 10 years old and she has given me an interest in this game as well. This game is something that could help spark some creativity in your children watching them create awesome diagrams and worlds right in front of you. Who knows, perhaps she will have a new interest in design and desire to be an architect one day. Her words, "I like it because you can make your own world and do just about anything in it that you want to do".
I have 2 children that absolutely LOVE this game. However, it was VERY difficult setting it up so that more than 1 child can play at the same time in split screen. I was extremely frustrated with this game at first as its almost impossible to figure out how 2 children can play at the same time. My kids would fight all day. So, for those of you who are having the same issue….First of all, you MUST have an HD television and an HDMI wire. Unfortunately and strangely, this is the only way. If you do have an HD tv and an HDMI wire, you must connect the wire from the back of the TV to the back of your playstation 3. Then, you must turn your ps3 on and set up the HDMI. Your ps3 will ask you “Can you see this screen?” If you see this message, you have done it correctly and you would click Ok with your playstation controller. If you have a tv that has more than one slot for HDMI wires, you must make sure you go to the channel that is supported by the port you used on the back of the tv. For example, if you used the first HDMI port on the back of your tv, you would select input, HDMI 1 and you would see your ps3 start up on the screen. If you put it n HDMI port 2 on the back of the tv, you would go to input, and select HDMI 2… Next, you can go back into the game and at first, you will not notice anything different. Chose a world and wait for it to load. Once it loads, turn the 2nd controller on and then press start…then you are able to play in split screen. I hope this helps some.
I am the unfortunate victim of a parent that listened to their child’s request for ‘MY FAVORITE GAME EVER!’Having heard this line before I assumed it would just be a passing phase.Nope. It is indeed his favorite game ever. Kinda makes me wish we had another TV and console so that the rest of us can play or watch something………. and ok maybe another one of these games seeing as how everyone else seems to like it too.
My son loves to build with Lego’s, bricks, books…pretty much anything he can get his hands on. He is also obsessed with trains. We’ve played this game a lot. I’m sort of a perfectionist and it pains me when I try to build something really cool and he then destroys it (like when there’s an explosion in the mine and the village I just built is completely destroyed). It’s really fun, he loves it and I love playing it with him. He comes up with some pretty creative buildings, bridges and pretty much anything…he really likes building 100’s of miles of mine track and then riding the rails.I haven’t had any bad experiences with the game play itself. There are some pretty neat texture packs you can buy that some additional fun. However, if you use a different texture pack some of the items don’t look like they would normally do…good thing they label them. I really enjoy the difficulty levels. I can set it on peaceful for my son and no matter how many times I tell him there are no Creepers, he still won’t go into a cave without thousands of torches and I like that I can turn the difficulty up on my game.
Minecraft has always been my favorite game in the whole world but this is…different.it is not updated att all there are no polar bears no bunnies no cats(there are ocelots)no CONCRETE it is really hard to build colorful things unless you use wool but I still got addicted and am still addicted i lovelove LOVE this game very fun very AWESOME (and obviously addicting)
I like the game – my granddaughter wanted to play and got me started on it. I played quite a bit for a while, but it gets old after a while. Playing on the computer might be better as there’s more room for expansion.
Love that this is a non violent game that we can play with our kids. Multiplayer without having to be online was important to us. We are new to Minecraft world but my 8 year old and 4 year old love it as much as my husband and I.
Kids love this game a lot. It is providing hours of entertainment and they keep building new structures, things and keep talking about new stuff they’re doing in the game. Now and then they discover something new and keep raving about it, looks like this game has a lot to be explored and discovered. Another great thing about this game is that both of the kids can play together, the screen splits in half and each one can do whatever he likes, together or alone. Game value v/s cost is pretty good. I definitely recommend this game.
I downloaded this game onto our Xbox 360 for my 5 year old daughter and she’s obsessed with it! I love that it’s multiplayer so she and I can build and create together. I purchased the PS3 version for my little brother for Christmas after seeing how much my daughter enjoyed it. He’s hard core into legos and video games and this game is like a combo of those things, so it was a huge hit! I really like how it’s great for basically all age groups – a game my husband and I actually enjoy playing with our girls since it does appeal to kids and adults both. It can be as complex as you want it to be, but also simple enough to keep a younger child’s attention.
Five hundred hours? One thousand hours? How long have I played Minecraft? I’ve lost track of time. At first I thought that this was a simple child’s game. That is….until night fell and the mob came out to kill me. I started with no tools, no armor, no weapons, no food, and no shelter. It was like a bad dream, but a bad dream with monsters at night. The game was challenging and it quickly became addictive. I died a lot in the beginning. A LOT. Slowly, I got the hang of the game. My dirt hidey hole in the ground became a ten story luxury condo. I terra formed my entire island as flat as a football pitch. I watched every darned dog or cat that I tamed get killed by creeper explosions. My record was losing SEVEN dogs at once. Eventually I did everything that I wanted to do, built everything that I wanted to build, explored the entire island both on land and underground. However, that took me probably 1,000 hours. There are people that have been playing Minecraft for years – since the game’s inception. There is a reason that Minecraft has a cult following and Minecraft gamers on Youtube have several million subscribers. This game is the best way to have fun and forget about life for a few hours. You are in another world….the world that you create. From age ten to age one hundred this is a fun game for everyone. Highest recommendation!
