Medal of Honor is fun. I noticed some serious hate in some reviews here but when you read between the lines, it seems as though some of the munchkins in munchkinland are just scared that a new game might be better than their favorite Modern Warfare game. To that, all I can say is why can’t people just enjoy the game for what it’s worth instead of expecting it to be Modern Warfare? All that really means is that there are fans of MW who are scared that something better might come along and guess what…for many game fans something better just did. With Medal of Honor, you get a good quality game with realistic gameplay based on actual historical events. I kinda have to giggle at the cut scenes because it’s your typical predictable crap where some evil higher up is made to look like a bad micromanager who is impeding progress etc (who cares?), just get on with the combat. I personally don’t care about online gaming or what’s trendy. I just like what I like and this game has a lot to like. I have encountered no glitches and after playing it eight times, it is not possible to beat the game in less then three hours as one reviewer stated because there are too many variables. You will get killed eventually on any mode and to even attempt finishing it that fast means you’re not even trying to enjoy the best parts of the game by being curious and inventive. This game appeals most to folks who don’t care much for MW’s frenetic and chaotic pace and appeals more to people who like to fini.
Let me start by saying that I had heard a lot of things about this game when it came out and that is why I never tried it sooner. I stuck to the Call of Duty series, ghost recon, and other such FPS. I finally was looking for a game to play recently and come across MoH again. I decided to give it a try. Boy am I glad I did. Let me start this review by saying that I did not play the multiplayer so I cannot comment on that part of the game.Story – The story was actually pretty good I thought. The story takes place in Afghanistan with you and your team hunting Taliban. You get to switch back and forth between Rangers and Navy SEALS. The story was kind of average until 3/4 through the game. I really thought that the story took off here and this is when it really got interesting for me. I won’t go into any further details to avoid spoilers but I really thought that it ended the story in awesome fashion.Controls – I was pleasantly surprised. The controls are very similar to Call of Duty which made it easy to jump right into the action. I like the fact that you can’t just run and gun on this game like you can on CoD. It gives it a more realistic feel to it. Another aspect of the controls I liked was the ability to slide into cover. It kind of reminds me of Ghost Recon’s slide into cover. I found it to be very usedul when trying to take cover from heavy enemy fire.Environment – The environment is beautiful for a desert like environment. The graphics are what you would expect from a cu.
I’ve had this game before but I sold it. I’m a collector of war games. Going back and playing this game years later is fun. I never get old of these games and the price was nice compared to the $60 for new games.
I am currently deployed to Afghanistan. I’m no special operator but was intrigued at comparing just how accurate this game is to life on the ground. I just started this game recently and can tell you that at least from a geographical and political perspective that this game is pretty scary in its ability to paint a realistic day in the life… While obviously some elements of the game are stretched a bit to enhance playability and enjoyment, I can say from personal experience that this game does a good job of showing you what our finest have to deal with on a daily basis.
A great game. I also own "Warfighter." Both are great games and I see them at my local game store for under $5! I don’t understand why? It’s definitely a great war game and I wish EA would make more of these from this camp.
Clearly, emotions run high about the quality of this game. What bothers me is that most of the negative reviews can be summed up like this: “OMG!!! Medal of Honor is NOT Call of Duty! I am soooo surprised and outraged!” All I can ask is what exactly were you expecting?Clearly, this game is not Call of Duty. It is its own game, plain and simple. Does it borrow from COD? Yes, just as COD borrowed from every game that came before it. Let’s start with the single player. I have never cared much for COD’s single player campaigns because they are just too over the top. COD single player has ever spawning enemies that continue to spawn until you push past the right “pressure point” on the map. The thousands of enemies and relentless pace make COD’s single player experience seem like an arcade shooting game. I always thought MW2 would have been great if it would just stop and take a breath, instead of always trying to one-up itself with one set piece after another. This MOA’s single player does indeed take a breath and try and give you a chance to absorb and take in what is happening to you. The SP campaign is far more intense than MW2’s campaign. It seems more realistic and down to earth, and the sound is simply astonishing. Playing MOA is like playing the war movie “Black Hawk Down,” realistic, intimate, and emotional. Playing COD single player is more like playing a James Bond movie – over the top, a bit silly, and never intended to be in-depth or meaningful. The MP is.
Really like this game. Although it is short, it is much better than Call of Duty: Black Ops. I prefer a shooter that is more precise and accurate when it comes to gameplay. The other game is too easy to shoot through a level. You really have to be more precise with this game and for me this much better. Overall I rate this a 4 out of 5. While not the greatest shooter it is much better than most.
MUCH BETTER THAN ANY CALL OF DUTY.When I say that- Call of Duty is a great game. Its artistry is beautiful and the story is interesting. However, Medal of Honor takes players into the real-world battle in Afghanistan with a first hand look at the role "Tier 1" operators play in America’s longest war. EA made it a point to seek out actual operators to consult on the games story, interface, and equipment to make sure they produced a top-notch version of what it was like for JSOC teams in Afghanistan.Gameplay puts you into the boots of operators in AFO (Advance Force Operation) "Wolfpack" (consisting of Army Compartmentalized Units- AKA Delta Force) and AFO "Neptune" (consisting of SEALs from the elite "Development Group", AKA "DEVGRU" or Team Six)- who are placed into the Shah-i-Kot Vally and the mountain of Takur Ghar, Afghanistan- during the opening hours of the US-led invasion in 2001. AFO teams were sent in to find enemy strongpoints, and either neutralize them or mark them for fire missions and/or airstrikes- prepping the battlespace for the incoming Army Rangers and Airborne units. Although loosely based on actual historical events- Medal of Honor still brings great realism- well, as close as a video game can get you there. The graphics are decent, the environments accurate and the weapons are as-close to on-par as you’re going to get.I won’t provide anymore spoilers- But if you like intense firefights during the real-life events in.
Great shooter. Online was a great engine but lacked players because MOH is not as popular as the other two titles.Single player was great, good story and fantastic graphics. Realism was a bit off, left me feeling like a god whenI was hoping to have bullet affect me more.overall 4/5graphics 5/5bots 3/5gameplay 4/5story 4.5/5age 14+
I’ll preface this review by admitting that I don’t enjoy First Person Shooters anymore; the video game world seems to be filled with Call of Duty knock-offs (and Call of Duty itself, actually) that are nothing but repetitive snorefests with lackluster stories, being sold entirely for the multiplayer. Frankly, I don’t think multiplayer has any right to hold up a game: if your game doesn’t have a solid leg to stand on with singleplayer, I’m not even going to touch it, which is why I haven’t bought a Call of Duty since #2 (the last good one). However, Medal of Honor exemplifies what shooters should be in this day and age; a captivating, compelling storyline, grounded heavily in reality but with just enough exaggerated fanfare to keep you playing through to the end. The single player campaign isn’t excessively long, but it was long enough that without binging and playing perhaps two hours every couple of days, I ended up beating it just this morning (having bought it the day it came out). The military jargon and procedural tactics are authentic, as well as the weapons used and the missions of the Special Forces operators. Anybody that enjoys solid military procedural will love this game.I haven’t played multiplayer, and I don’t particularly plan to – there’s nothing fun to me about playing the same ten or twelve maps ad nauseum with a cluster of people that I don’t know. I do, however, enjoy split-screen co-op and multiplayer — which is where this game falls short. This is the on.
