Max Payne 2 has much better graphics than the first. The telling of the story by flipping pages of a comic book like presentation was uniques and gave a great setting to the game with the voices of the major charaters telling the story as you played the game. Plot was more complex than I thought it would be.
Max Payne on the PC was one of the craziest games I’ve ever played. I still play it once in a while for nothing more than its all out gunning madness. It truely was a visceral experience from front to finish, which came all too soon. That is probaly my biggest gripe with Max Payne 2 is that it is also somewhat short. Though, there is greatness to be found in this game. The is depth to be found in it’s simplicity. The run and gun tactics make for one intense experince that you will easily want to relive. Graphically, Max Payne 2 on the xbox is pretty sweet. There are no reflective effects such as the ones found on the PC and sacrifices have been made in the explosion department, but its likely you wont notice. The game looks and plays too good to complain. The story is deep and lost me on a couple occassions, still this made me want to replay those levels. No matter what your reason, you will want to revisit this game even after beating it quickly the first go around. Xbox shooter fans, do yourselves a favor and buy this game. It is one heck of an experience offering some of the best graphics, rag-doll physics, and gameplay around. Highly recommended.
Max payne 1 was a blast to play and the story was very gritty and violent. You get the same hear but the plot does’nt unravel till half way but the exposition is pretty good setup. The game makes slight improvement to the original one of these is the ragdoll physics which makes shooting enemies a blast and adds a comedic tuch in my opinion to serious game. Along with havoc physics which you’ll notice when you interact with objects in the world. Max payne 2 is what a good sequel is.
For myself
When the original Max Payne hit PC users in 2001, it was generally considered a success. Bullet Time in videogames was still a shiny new concept and the unexpectedly over-the-top "film noir" style kept fans shooting away, despite complaints that, really, you were just doing the same thing over and over.To a lot of people, however, Max Payne was a game that was far more than the sum of it’s parts. Many people (myself included) fell in love with the gritty, absurdly heavy style of the game. Those that didn’t really "get it" complained about Max’s constant use of insanely overwrought metaphors, ever-present gloom, and ridiculous storyline, but everyone who was able to see it as the campy homage that it was had a blast. When part 2 was announced, I was thrilled. Max Payne is a series that lends itself pretty well to a sequel because, really, you don’t have to change much about the game mechanics. They’re pretty simple, and they work fine. It had already come to light that there were going to be no fundamental changes beyond some minor tweaks to Bullet Time and a completely different plot, so it sounded good to me.And, upon playing through the game in one sitting, that’s exactly what I got. What this means is, if you liked the first Max Payne, you’ll like the second one, if you didn’t, you won’t. Easy as that. Gameplay is IDENTICAL. There are a few alterations to some of Max’s moves and skills (i.e. There are now deeper levels of Bullet Time, attained by winning.
original brand new
Never has there been a crime game saga like that of “Max Payne”. It has revolutionized it’s genre of gaming. “Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne” is a mesmerizing follow up to the original. The first one set the standard and this second chapter followed the original very well. Once again the game has a breath- taking storyline filled with stunning visuals of brutal and mesmerizing action. This time we guide Max through the web of controversy revolving around his love interest Mona Sax. At the climax we see her perspective as we have the chance to guide her through the adventure as our battered hero is fighting for his life. The game holds your intrigue throughout and delivers a heart pounding climax at the end. After completing the detective mode you then test your endurance in 4 more intense perspectives of the crime epic of Mr. Payne. This one is an original along with its predecessor. The “Max Payne” saga will go down as one of the greatest and most influential games in video game history.
