I got this on sale and i’m glad i did, i am not sure i would have paid full price for it. That said this game is alot of fun as i expected from a Little Big Planet game. Its not quite mario kart but has a similar feel in some aspects. There is a story line and you travel around much like you would in the LBP games. The reason i docked a star off was that this game was short. The worlds were inconsistent with how many levels each one had. So some of them went faster than others. Play with a friend and its much more exciting you can also play against others online which was fun too. Overall this met my expectations with a couple of fun curve balls so hence the 4 stars.
Simple review:LBP Karting is a great "Karting" game themed for the LBP series. And NOT a great LBP game with a Karting theme. If you love Karting games, you will love this too. But if you just love LBP and don’t really enjoy Karting games, this game won’t help. But that is probably obvious.More comments:While this is a great Karting game, there are a few small things that I miss. And I know I am picky on really really TINY things. But coming from loving the LBP 1&2 games, I felt a little unfulfilled. Can’t walk around your "pod/home". You can’t exit your vehicle and walk around. Which means you can’t slap each other either. You can’t slap each other anywhere in the game that I have tried. My kids and I wear actually very saddened by this. Silly I know. For the Karting, many levels are very open and it’s easy to not see where you need to go or what direction you need to drive. Of course some of the open levels are not direction based. But the ones that are, don’t tell you when you are going the wrong way, etc. For my 6 and 8 year old, it can be very confusing at times. And for me, coming from the Burnout series and other racing games, it is just as confusing for me as well. Not enough power ups if you ask me. I was hoping for a little more over the top.Again, a great Karting game. But even with all the LBP flare thrown in, it’s just hard to get as attached to this game as the normal LBP series. Though I do love it at the price I got it for.
I love Little Big Planet so much that to me, it’s the single greatest reason to buy a Sony Playstation 3 Game Console. That said, my daughter and I are really enjoying LBP Karting as somewhat of an "add-on" to our LBP 1 and LBP 2 games.I don’t have experience with other karting games, but my pre-teen daughter’s played Mario Kart on WII consoles, before, and she says LBP Karting is similar (albeit different, as LBP Karting offers "sackboy"/"sackgirl" dress-up, decoration and general game antics.I definitely have yet to master LBP Karting — which my daughter and I play with the PlayStation Move Racing Wheel, and I’m a tad frustrated that the levels we’ve tried, thus far, don’t differ much from one to another, but LBP Karting is a great deal of fun,, all the same.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!! My husband and I really like this game. It is a nice racing game with different planets/tracks to race on. The fact that while you race, you are searching for bubbles with treasures, is an added goal to achieve 100% completion on a level. We purchased a used copy, but it looked brand new and works wonderfully. We have now completed it and will probably start over. Very happy with this game.
Obviously, this is a Mario Cart ripoff, but I don’t care. I can decorate my kart as a sushi box…Can Mario do that? The answer is no. Hecks no.My wife and I love LBP. If they make a game, we buy it. However, I warn you ladies and gentlemen, this sucker cheats. As though fast forwards and stupid rockets weren’t enough, the game will occasionally glitch and simply drop someone that you recently threw off a cliff right next to you (half star subtraction). I’m being bitter right now, because I’ve seen it with my own eyes.Enjoy playing with others? Do it! But don’t have a big party because it doesn’t let you use multiple players unless you’re not in the same room…grr. (Other half star subtraction). Still I enjoy the regular play with my friends. My little lady often gets frustrated to tears. Instead of crying, she bashes her fists into my shoulder. So, if anyone out there would love to play a game where you can torture your significant other because they didn’t wash the dishes…buy this and use a rocket right when they jump over a gap [insert evil laugh].
As a parent, I am always glad when a toy or game gets played enough that I feel like I "got my money’s worth." This can be a real crapshoot with video games, but I know my son and daughter both seem to really enjoy this game and have logged quite a few hours playing and designing courses. It also seems to be a game that crosses gender and age rather well.Good work by the designers and developers of Little Big Planet Karting!
Package says it’s only for one player (and only has online multiplayer,) but it does offer a head-to-head mode, just turn on the second controller and another sackboy will appear. So that was a plus.Very similar to ModNation Racers, but with LBP elements and style. Which is fine with me because I love both games.BIGGEST BUMMER is that in your pop-up, they mix together the items you have with items for sale and it really clutters up customizing your car/sackboy. And you don’t get all the costumes/items/stickers you earned in LBP1 and LBP2, which I sort of expected since LBP2 supported the LBP1 stuff.
I really got this game for my girlfriend. I love playing games, and she does play some, but mostly enjoys simple games. Let me tell you, I play this more than ever. It definitely reminds me of mario kart, and the controls are spot on. I love the powerups, and you would think the game would get old, but it doesn’t. Each different world is unique, and never gets repetitive. Plus, being able to modify your cart, clothes, etc, never gets old. Each time you create a new kart, seems like a new game all over. Like I said, the controls are great, and the air tricks are pretty cool too. Being able to do flat spins is so rewarding. Plus, when you land one (or a flip), you get a little speed boost. Trust me, this game isn’t going to get old, and you will play it. Plus, playing online is a lot of fun. Highly recommend it.
I bought this to play with my 10 year old daughter. We love it. Easy enough for me (totally not a gamer) and fun for her to have Mom join her doing something she likes. My 4 year old nephew also had a great time playing and managed to win a few rounds too.
I’ve only been playing this kart game for a few days, but I love it. At first glance, it seems pretty simplistic. It’s not so easy to guarantee a victory. The more you play, you find strategies that will put you ahead and, more importantly, keep you ahead of the other racers. I’m finding that, to obtain all of the treasures of the game, there’s a lot of skill required, but the game doesn’t force you through anything like that. Even on the harder "normal" setting, a few races should net you the luck to place in one of the upper levels and proceed with the story but, if you aim for perfection, you’ll find the game very challenging.
