Now, I expect to be jumped on for this, but this is my favorite Fantasy RPG to date. I absolutely loved it. The combat was perfect. No glitchy hack continuously or throw the same spell over and over like the Elder Scrolls games. The hotkey system isn’t the main form of combat as it is in Dragon Age Origins. All the combat is smooth and flowing. You get two primary weapons that you can use different combo moves with, and you also have a side hotkey system for your abilities.I really enjoy the leveling up system and how you can integrate two of the combat types together very fluidly. I played focusing on Finesse and Sorcery, and it was a blast to go back and forth between the abilities of the two separate types. The main plot line is great, the main side quests are good, and the random side quests are okay for the most part. This is a common theme in any RPG though. I haven’t played one to date where I loved all the side quests. There’s just only so many ideas you can come up with for players to do.The main fault of this game is probably a bigger fault for a lot of RPG players than myself. Is that there really is no decision making system. It seems like there is, but your decisions really don’t make any difference whatsoever. It’s no Fable, that’s for sure. Also, there’s no romance aspect to the game. Again, not something I care about, but it may bother some people.I’ll most likely be playing this again in the near future.
I beat this game last night after playing it for 201 hours. It was a very fun game, and at the price it’s listed now is an incredible bargain.I started off thinking I wanted to play a mage, since I usually prefer mages/sorcerers in my RPG’s. I did some experimenting and fell in love with the Finesse type character in this game (kind of a combination of a Ranger and an Assassin). I found out I loved playing stealth style, with daggers, poison, and longbows. I ended up maxxing out in strictly Finesse and never straying. Which means that I will probably play it again after a while as a pure mage, since I’m still a fan of mages.Strengths of the game:- Gorgeous graphics- Intense action fights, but not difficult to master combat style at all- Great music and voice acting- Huge game with many many sidequests if you want to pursue them all (as I did)- An abundance of loot- Ability to craft your own weapons and armor and give them whatever name you want (which is surprisingly cool)- Save any time and any where you want to- Very forgiving system (if you regret a choice of ability points, you can visit a Fateweaver and change them)Potential negatives of the game (depends on your perspective):- Single player game, you are pretty much on your own (although it makes it satisfying to dominate that way)- On Normal difficulty setting, balance is good until late game, when you get super powerful and can crush enemies easilyYou can always change the difficulty level and make it harder if y.
I waited to write the review for this one to make sure the new wore off. This is truly a great game but it get quite repetitive in the game play however when you take everything you love in the Fable series and cross that with the good from Elder Scrolls then you throw names in development like R.A. Salvator and Todd McFarlene you have to just sit back in aww and wonder at the terrific story and the possibilities that really make you remember some of those days rolling the dice. I suggest this game to anyone into the fantasy genre of games and those who are avid Table Top RPG players. Enjoy!
I bought KoA: Reckoning for my boyfriend as a gift (he is a huge R.A. Salvatore fan)… needless to say, I’ve logged about 25+ hours and he has 4 or 5 hours. The gameplay is very fun, especially if you tend to play characters that rely on hand-to-hand combat as opposed to archery or magic. There is nothing about this game that isn’t appealing to the eye– the colors are so bold and the landscapes really are gorgeous. The inventory system is pretty cool also; instead of giving your character a weight limit for what they carry, there is an item limit. Although this is kind of a bummer for smaller items, it really is beneficial when you’re going through a cave or ruin and you find nothing but armor and weapons. The inventory menu also has a “junk pile,” so as you’re on a few quests and picking up everything (and I pick up EVERYTHING), you can add it to your junk pile, and when you get to a shop, there’s an option to sell all of your junk, which makes your visits to the shops a lot quicker. For me, the controller setup had its high points and low points, but I really loved how your primary and secondary weapons are set on the X and Y buttons, which makes switching between them a breeze! I am a big fan of hand-to-hand and melee combat, so having this control setup allowed me to fight faster. Also, hitting left or right on the D-pad allows you to consume a minor healing or mana potion, which is awesome if you’re in the midst of fighting several enemies (because it’s rare that you’l.
I’ve found this to be a really interesting open world game. A shame the MMORG project that this was supposed to evolve into never came to fruition. Lots of attacks that are easy to learn and great graphics. Reckoning is more than your average XXX (eXplore, eXperience, eXterminate) game. You can level up and practice individual abilitys, form alliances and such.I think one of the more interesting items in this game is the ability to make your own armor and weapons. For example if you are having trouble with a creature that uses a fire based attack you can craft a magical gem and then assemble armor and deposit the gem which will then cause it to be enchanted against fire based attacks. You can also experiment by mixing different gems to get different strengths and abilitys from the gems. The same goes for potions. You collect numerous reagents throughout the game and can then mix them and see what you get. Once you find a potion that works it will record the mixture for you allowing you to make it again.Even with customized weaponry, armor the game is not very complicated to pick up. The combat is more about good timing and wisdom than twitch speed.Bottom line, this is probably one of the most replayable dungeon type games I’ve played and I’ve been playing since “Temple of Apshai” came out!
I bought this fairly recently, even though it has been out a while. I love fantasy RPGs where you get to play a female character (you can also choose to be male). I could make this an incredibly in-depth review, but nobody wants to read a review that is as long as a book, so I will try to keep it as short as possible. In my opinion, the game is a mix between Fable and The Elder Scrolls. I really love how many choices you get in this game and how complicated and intricate everything is. The world is huge, there are countless weapons and armor, and they aren’t all rusty longswords either. The weapons I find in random treasure boxes while exploring are actually interesting and fun to use. I like that there are so many different types of weapons. I usually stick with one or two main weapons and switch between them, but the weapons in this game make it so hard to choose! My favorite are the Faeblades, but the daggers, great sword, staffs, etc. are all so much fun to use, too, especially with their different enchantments. Always pay attention to the enchantments before selling ones you don’t want. Sometimes they will add an extra point to your Finesse, Stealth, Persuasion, etc., which can be really useful to have on you when you really need a boost in those skills.I love how streamlined everything is. Usually, “streamlined” means “dumbed down,” but the Reckoning is an exception. I absolutely LOVE how you can easily add things you want to sell to Junk, so when you find a.
I love this game, what’s a little disappointed when Xbox one wasn’t backwards compatible with it but now that it is I can finally enjoy one of my favorite games again.
After putzing around in Skyrim for years, (I don’t have a whole lot of time to play, just an hour or two a week at most), I finally got another game and played it. I was skeptical, but I’ve been won over. The graphics are dated but still beautiful, the world is expansive, and the quests are plentiful and varied enough to keep it interesting, (unlike the quests in fable where it started to feel like doing the exact same thing over and over). Good stuff. Try it.
Arrived still factory sealed it seems.Perfect condition. Works great. Exceeded my expectation.Fun game If Skyrim and Fable had a baby itd be KOA ReckoningArrived quickly. As shown.Glad I bought this.
This game is excellent. If you are looking for a game with lots of customization, side quests & have a lot of free time then this game is for you. The game has a good story although not the most memorable, it will keep you playing. Also, the best part is this game is huge. I mean huge! It is beautifully made & the scenery alone will drag you into the world. It is very repetitive though and you’ll kind of have an idea of what happens during all the quests & storyline missions after you handle a few. Right after the tutorial section of the game, you’ll see. Nonetheless, the game is fun & will soak up your spare time! If you enjoy action RPG’s you’ll enjoy this game.
