The episodic Hitman revitalized the franchise and was a surprisingly polished game. While it took some time to get used to have to wait to play the next episode it led us to get this sequel where episodes are ditched in favor of a standard full game release. Hitman is definitely the kind of title that the more you play the more you tend to get into it because of the open ended nature of how you choose to approach most missions. My favorite part has always been discovering new ways to take out your target and the series for me as a result is extremely replayable. This game is no exception and while it’s does look a little better than Hitman 1 this is more of an extension of the last game which to me is not a bad thing. The best levels are those with huge crowds in my opinion because it feels more alive and it also leads you to get more of the story hinting at possible new ways or locations to take out your target. The efforts put in on certain levels like Whittleton Creek are amazing where you hear characters complaining and arguing giving you more intel on your target while filling out some plot points. Another nice bonus is the enhanced levels of the first game being included which I have only briefly taken a look at but it does look better and I hope to explore that more in the future. Along with the elusive target missions and challenges there is a good amount of content to keep you playing for a while. The game looks great but this is not going to be on the level of.
Got it for a friend and they loved it
If you are looking for a shooter game, this is not what you are looking for. This is a story based game and killing the target is really just the task that moves the story forward once you have uncovered all the various story lines. This will appeal more toward fans of the first Hitman (Hitman Codename 47) that came out in 2000, and less to the fans of the follow ups, or those looking to play this game as “Go kill the target and click next…” This is why there are several reviews saying they were disappointed because there were only six missions and “played through” the entire game in just a couple of hours – they didn’t “PLAY” the game. Yes, if all you want to do is play the task at hand (eliminate the targets) it can be done very quickly by a few disguises and shooting or attacking the target and running to the exit point.I loved the first release (Hitman – Codename 47) but had a lot of issues with the followup releases being too linear, and “Hitman” (2016) was just a dud due to the issues with Square Enix and |O.In this version |O finally teamed up with WB to release a game more true to the story based game play of the 2000 release of the first game Hitman Codename 47.
LOVE THIS GAME. HOURS UPON HOURS OF GAMEPLAY. I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS
They say you are supposed to play each level with multiple playthroughs but the first time was too short. I paid $19.99 almost immediately to get the first Hitman on this disk. Hopefully it’ll last longer. That being said, the game is well made and fantastic.
Ver fun game
I’ve been a huge game of the Hitman games for a long time now. The story has me bought in. It feels a little all over the place at times, but I’m still quite interested. I don’t like how some of the cutscenes were just pictures with voices laid on top. Other than that, I like the game a lot.
I wasn’t sure about this game, but it really is a lot of fun – I bought Hitman 1 after enjoying this so much to get more. The gameplay is fun and creative, and it’s so satisfying when a chain of events you’ve planned out comes together. It’s even fun when things go wrong and you have to evade capture and hide, switch disguises, find witnesses, etc, etc.The worlds are big and detailed, with a tonne of replayability. The challenges are good hints to help you explore the level and kill options. I bought Hitman 2, then Hitman 1 when I realized how much I liked the game. There’s a story, but it’s no big deal if you’re not following it. If you but Hitman 1 (I have the definitive edition), you can play the old levels in the new engine (if you own 1 already, it’s a free download).Highly underrated game IMHO, I don’t know why this isn’t in the 2018 top 10 competing with RDR2 and GoW, it’s easily a top 5 game of the year.
I’m back and forth on how I feel about this. I’m surprised there’s so few episodes. Only 6? You can finish an episode in like 10 minutes. But it’s still so fun. I wish there was more. GTA, by comparison, packs a lot more dialogue, missions, etc. into the game. The scenes in this game though are STUNNING but I can also tell the designers aren’t completely comfortable with facial animations. Whenever the characters talk, their backs are facing the camera, or their mouths just don’t move.Edit: I was wrong about this, and there is an infinite amount of ways you can kill someone. There are many different mission stories and you experience the story differently each time. The challenges are fun to conquer, and you continue to get better at the game as you go. I completely abandoned Red Dead Redemption for this. I love it.After playing both hitman and hitman 2, hitman 2 is much better in terms of playability. Hitman 2 missions are also less tedious and more enjoyable to play.NOTE TO DEVELOPERS: Offer 4,000 XP for discovering all the areas in a mission–not 1,000. It’s actually hard to get to every place.
