This game is really great. The main problems are not with the game, but with people that dont know how to keep their computer updated with current hardware drivers. The game seems to be buggy with GeForce video cards, but that’s due more to Nvidia’s flaky drivers. Nvidia puts out new ones every week it seems trying to squash the bugs. Also, this game is one of the first to use DirectX 8, so hardware makers are still playing catchup. With my Voodoo 3 3000 AGP video card and Soundblaster Live, not one problem.Also, there are many 3rd party updates available for rosters, stadiums, utilities, and more that keep High Heat 2k2 the most updated baseball game ever! If you like baseball and the most realistic gameplay ever, welcome to the creme of the crop.
This game is great. It is perfect for those of us that like the gameplay but also the stratigic part. You can manage your minor league teams from AAA, AA, and A!!! This is a realistic twist to a baseball game and is especially important in a career mode. And by the way, you can play a career mode for 60,000 seasons!! Just remember to save often because, yes, it does have some bugs. So, all in all a good game and great for the simulation type players.
High Heat 2002 is, as far as I’m concerned, the second best pc game on the market.It’s a very close second to HH2003. I love all the High Heat games, but 02 and 03 far outshine any of the Triple Play offerings. Triple Play is just OK,and their 2001 game gave me a lot of trouble. I still have it but I hardly ever bother playing it anymore. High Heat 2002 is definitely realistic and easy to play. I’m not a hardcore PC Gamer yet but I do know what the game of baseball is all about, having been a fan And a collector for about 45 years. This game is definitely a keeper.
The absolute best baseball ever – period!!! Better than the 2001 edition, and I did not think that possible. A classic. The gameplay, graphics, stadiums, simulation, etc… is totally realistic. A must buy! The premiere grand-cru of baseball games.
HH2002 is still the best game overall out there when it comes to baseball games. I still feel they can do a lot more with the GM functions. Things like salaries, draft pick trades, and even arbitration would drastically improve the already best baseball game out there. In multi-play seasons once you have assembled a loaded team, there is nothing to stop you from winning 6 or 7 straight World Series which we all know doesn’t happen(I know the Yankees are great, but bear with me). I didn’t notice a major difference between HH2k1 and HH2k2 overall(I’m sure there might be) but the playable game is much more realistic and fun than playing the usual BB games that look more like a company softball game with a HR every AB from a teams best hitter. Overall still the best, but I hope they make some GM improvements.
I’s a great game. Realistic game play. Download stadium files from the internet to get better realism in the stadiums. The bugs are easy to work out. My pentium II 400 with an ATI Rage pro video card run the game beautifully. No crashes!
I highly recommend this game for serious pc baseball players. I played the Triple Play series for 4 years, while EASPORTS has done nothing to improve their product, High Heat has done a great job improving graphics, maintaining an excellent stats interface. I have seen a lot of reviews about their system crashing and other bugs. I run a Athlon 900, 196RAM, and ATI-32MB All-in-Wonder card. The first time I installed the game and ran the update feature, and updated all my drivers nd the game would crash every time. I reinstalled my game without running the update and it runs fine. The only bug I have found so far is if you throw to first base on a pickoff move then press the throw button the first baseman will throw the ball to the catcher, if you press the throw button again(while the catcher has the ball and you don’t press the D-pad) the game exits back to Windows. I find the difficulty the best part of the game. When I first started playing I played at the AAA level, after one season I moved up, and so on. I play at the All-Star or MVP levels, winning and losing is realistic and stats are realistic, no .500 avg and 100homers. Overall I highly recommend this game. If you play a custom league with draft you have access to the extra players.
During the time they were making yearly baseball video games 3DO was all about detail and strategy. If you wanted to just play a baseball game where you hit home runs all the time then this series was not for you. it would have been something to see had 3DO continued with this series instead of going out of business a few years later.This is an enjoyable game and you won’t regret going back to it again or trying it for the first time.
Great graphics, very realistic. Have some bugs which can be easily corrected. Make sure your video card driver can support DirectX 8.0. If not, the game will crash to the desktop when playing. 3DO has a list of updated drivers on homepage for video cards. Install the updated driver before installing High Heat Baseball 2002. And enjoy the best PC baseball game this year.
This game is head and shoulders above the competition. I am a true baseball fan and this game had the most realistic game play I had ever seen. Baseball fans should really enjoy it.
