There isn’t a whole lot I can say about Soul Calibur II that hasn’t been said by everybody else already. It makes relatively small changes to the gameplay of Soul Calibur, which is fine by me — SC is still the gold standard of arcade fighting games, as far as I’m concerned. The graphics (especially the 3D backgrounds) have been kicked up a notch. The gameplay is faster and a bit more streamlined (Guard Impact moves have been simplified, and it’s now more apparent when moves have special properties like Guard Break or Auto-Counter). Many characters received changes to their move lists (some larger than others, but mostly for the better). There are also two entirely new characters: Raphael, a fencing noblemen, and Talim, a Filipina fighter who uses bladed tonfas. The home version brings back everyone from Soul Calibur: Sophitia, Seung Mina, Lizardman, Rock (now named "Berzerker"), and Hwang (now called "Assassin") all make their return. The last three have to be unlocked in the "extra" Weapon Master missions, which can be accessed once you beat all the standard ones. Also, fan favorite Cervantes (from Soul Edge, the game before Soul Calibur 1) is back. The Gamecube version also features Link (from The Legend Of Zelda), although some people have derided the "bonus" console characters as a marketing gimmick (the more the merrier, I say). This brings the total, I think, to 23, which is a *lot* by any measure.Speaking of the Weapon Mas.
I was looking for this game and i found it and bought. Game works great.
Ok, so this game was a something my friends suggested like…3 years ago. Well, knowing my friends, I pushed it away. Well, a few months ago, I was reading a “Nintendo Power”, it mentioned that “Soul Calibur 2” was one of the 25 top games to own for GameCube. Taking this into consideration, I came here to find it. I bought it. To be honest, I had my doubts. It took some time to get to my house. But, it was totally worth the wait to finally get to pop it into my GameCube, plug in the controller and select Link! It’s a really good game and you should suggest it, that is, if you have enough patience.
Works great!
