The next chapter in Final Fantasy takes the series to the next level. In a world where an ancient energy known as the Sorceress Power is passed down through generations, the peace of the realm is threatened when the evil Sorceress Ultimecia takes power as ruler of the Galbadia Republic. To restore order, Squall, a member of Balamb Garden Military Academy’s elite mercenary force SeeD, other allies from the Garden, and Rinoa, a member of the resistance, join together on a journey that spans time and space. With the addition of an hour worth of CG animation, a new “Junction” system, and compatibility with the Dual Shock Analog Controller, Final Fantasy VIII is a breathtaking addition to the series.

Final Fantasy 8 is definitely a great chapter in the Final Fantasy anthology. I am a little more than half way through the game right now, and it still has my attention. The only misleading thing about the game was the hype. Many a person has told me that “This is the best love story in all the Final Fantasy games!”, which is not entirely true. The game itself does not stem through a love story like I was led to believe. The other thing that caught me off guard in the game is, unlike most RPG’s, especially the Final Fantasy games, the Summons or Espers (pending on which games you’ve played) do not rely on your magic points (MP). On top of that, in order to gain more summons, you have to “scan” all the bosses and especially if a boss changes form, or you have to fight them more than once in the game. Now as far as they buyer, I haven’t had any complaints about using retrolio aside from one thing. I am a heavy collector. Comics, toys, art, etc. etc. So far, there is no way of telling if you will receive the “Greatest Hits Edition” or the original packaging. I personally thing all the selling users on retrolio should have the exact picture that they are selling, not just a picture they found online. Another thing with the Greatest Hits version is that I received a black and white play book rather than a color version. As I said before, I am a collector and very very selective about the items that I purchase. Aside from that, the game is great, and I recommend and RPG fan to play it, a.
Up to this FF I’ve always been able to replay the game several times, but for some reason this one didn’t really entice me enough to play it again, otherwise I’d give it a ‘5’. The game was actually pretty cool, but some of the play was too drawn out. I did like the fact that you could attach your magic spells to your weapons and armor, especially the armor portion, because you could get to the point where you weren’t affected by any status changes, even sudden Death. If you’ve never played this game, I say it’s pretty good if you have some time on your hands.
This game is the best ever. Some people say its confusing or you will never know what to do but gues what…,there wrong. Whenever you need to find somone or go somewere it highlights it in what the person you are talking to is saying. For example "Selphie is feeling bad we should cheer her up she might be in the [QUAD]". now if you cnat understand that u need some help. The story is great and yes although it is a bit more dramatic it just makes you care for the characters more than you would of if it wasnt dramatic. It is the best final fantasy ive played an ive pla from 7 – 10 i think they go in order 8-7-10-9 also the graphics in 8 may not be the best but the FMV’s are the best ive seen. Sure the ingame graphics arent ebst but they are about 2nd best. This is by far the best RPG or maybe best game overall i have ever played in my life!
I thoroughly enjoyed playing Final Fantasy VIII. From the introductory movie I was hooked. The world and story were very unique, as well as the new battle system. I thought the junction system was fairly easy to understand and once I got used to it, I loved it more than the materia system of VII. The characters in VIII were all very likeable. It was interesting to play the game from the perspective of a student named Squall, who happens to be one of my favorite heroes of the Final Fantasy series. The cinematics in the game were very nicely produced and captured the best moments. From start to finish, I had fun playing this game and highly recommend it to fans of the Final Fantasy series and role playing games in general.
This game doesn’t get enough credit from most FF fans. The cinematics are amazing as well as the audio, which are both big steps up from FF7 IMO. The plot is very complex and intricate, but it does take a while to get going. The draw system is kind of funky, but workable once you get used to it. The only thing that really bothers me after a while is being unable to skip the GF animations. They’re very cool looking, but they get old after the first hundred times or so. Triple Triad is pretty darn cool and probably one of the best features of FF8.I really like FF6, and I’m definitely not a fan boy of 7, which is probably why I like 8. I don’t love it to death or anything, but the limit breaks are fun, the FMVs are beautiful as I said before, and the plot offers a lot of intrigue if you have a little patience.
Riding the coattails of VII, this game divided Final Fantasy fans down the middle, from my years of playing this game many times I just can’t see why it isn’t more popular, It has a memorable Story and Characters, fantastic gameplay and was tons of fun, y’all should try this game sometime, Forwarning about Magic you can absorb it from enemies or spot throughout game can be used to cast in a fight but also for Junctioning(raising stats) and learning abilities.
Although I STILL have not finished this game (due to people erasing my saves, messed up copies, and losing memory cards), this is one of my favorite entries in the Final Fantasy series for a number of reasons.-The magic junction system, although frustrating at times (excessive Drawing), is very innovative-Drawing Summons from bosses is brilliant-No need to manage a ton of different armor/accessories-The card game was the best addition to the genre, especially with the added element of modding the cards into items (despite the annoying rules that can creep their way in)Although there are many other things that I like about the game (the story, well rounded characters, actually engaging battles, etc.), these are the main things that set this game apart for me. I was disappointed when FFIX oversimplified the card game (and yet, complicated it with the cards having HP and levels and whatnot) and the switch from a card game to that annoying water sport in FFX. I like the traditional elements in other FF games, but such breaks from the norm as FFVIII and FFXII make me giddy for the lack of the repetitious, for something unique within familiar trappings. Tonberry? Check. Summons? Check. Mix of sci-fi and fantasy? Check. Cid? You betcha.A great entry in the series, and far too often dismissed/overlooked.
It works great on my PS2. This is one of my favorite Final Fantasy ‘s. Even though they have a remastered version allegedly coming out, I am glad I bought this original. Thank you to whoever owned this before and took care of it.
…but in spite of that, Final Fantasy VIII is an undeniable classic. The longest game in the series, number 8 is one of two that I have been able to beat (along with number 10). The game spans across 4 epic discs (though, as usual, the final disc is rather short). In each disc, there are all sorts of lush 32-bit landscapes and characters, as well as gorgeous summons and various other magic spells. The CG cinematics are stunning, especially the ending. The character designs are new to the series, which is great: it was the first with the more adult looking characters that also stylized number 10 (parts one and two). Also, the musical score, though not as good as the one in VII, is GORGEOUS! The battle music for both bosses and regular monsters is beautiful: while the monster battles have more of a classical sound (strings leading in to a brass and wind attack), while the boss theme is more of a synth rock tune with rhythm guitar chugging away beneath the keys. The final battle music is beautiful, as is the music in the final level (Ultimecia castle). In fact, the music in Ultimecia castle sent chills down my spine when I first heard it, it is VERY creepy, with the organs blaring and the harpsichords beneath it. The bottom line: it doesn’t have as wide of a variety of characters as many other Final Fantasy games do, but it has an eerie and atmospheric musical score that only Final Fantasy VII can beat. Buy it if you enjoy the series, especially VII and all the games after it.
I really love this game! It’s one of my favorite games of all time. It was the first RPG I ever played and loved every minute of it! Companies don’t make games this good anymore. This game features Squall , a lone wolf, that becomes a Seed from Balamb Garden (This garden educates people and trains them so that they can fight evil sorceresses. While the story progresses, Squall stops being a lone wolf, and eventually makes friends. When Squall , and two more Seeds, have their first mission, while being in the subway, they pass out and have this dream about the adventures of three soldiers Laguna , Kiros and Ward. As the game progressess, these three characters turn out that they do exist and that that they play a very important role in the game.It also has two superbosses at the end of the game, Ultima and Omega weapon , the last one, being the most difficult monster in the whole game and it’s optional to fight him. The best about this game , is that the ending is perfect.Another great thing about this game is that that it has a lot of sidequests like in final fantasy X and x-2 so that makes it a very long game (mine in total has 93 hours of gameplay). In conclusion, you should buy this game, I can assure you, that that you will not regret it!
