I admit to having gone backwards here. I started with Dirt 3 and after completing that I got Dirt 2 when I could pick it up cheap. Anyway, I’m pretty much in love. I really liked the follow up but this is one of my favorite games ever. I learned a lot about not just throttling every race and hoping for the best. There’s some hand-eye coordination involved with this thing as well as some patience, persistence, and a sense of being on the edge even though you’re not really in the car. I like that there’s a variety of race types and challenges along the way. Being able to skip around is really nice too because I found if I went to a different location and raced a different type or race I could come back to whatever I was having trouble with instead of having to just push through and be frustrated.The graphics are great. No real hangups at all with the quality of the game or the controls. Maybe it’s not totally realistic, but there’s a lot of variety. You can customize your ride a bit more which is something I discovered I miss about Dirt 3. If I had to choose, I’d say go with Dirt 2. Definitely my favorite racing game.
Many years ago, I owned this game for PS3 and played it so much, I only missed out on 4 available achievements. I am a HUGE fan of CodeMasters games since Grid, and this game does not disappoint. However…I recently purchased this game again for XBox 360. I got it used for ~$30 (great value) and to much disappointment, the game does not work on my XBox. I have a black 320Gb, and am being given the “unreadable disc” error 03-57-00.From what I understand, this is an issue with the optical reader in the system having an issue with reading the game data. It is not a disc issue so much as an incompatibility. There are fixes for this ( ) however I have been unsuccessful.I post this only as a gentle warning, as I would on the Fifa Football games if I were to encounter the issue with them… they seem to be notorious with having this error.

I absolutely love this game! I bought it for my 9 year old son and quickly became hooked! The variety of racing styles keeps it interesting, and the graphics and racing action are excellent!
At first I was hesitant to purchase this game after the disappointment that Fuel was, but after a couple of races I was completely hooked for many hours! Whether you are looking for solid single player game, or swapping paint in multiple online matches, then this off road adrenaline rush is for you! First off the graphics are amazingly better than the first Dirt; I was very impressed with the overall presentation of this game. There are practically no frame rate issues, with smooth textures, and a fluid camera movement to top off this wonderfully entertaining sequel. The user friendly navigation menu sets a good tone from the get go, whereas you placed inside your very own RV that you use to travel throughout all the locations you race in the world. You select your own Dirt tour, choose online matches, view stats, and watch extras all within the RV. You can also step outside to view cars and trucks you have purchased, or wish to purchase. You also can view news and change options outside. There are plenty of liveries to unlock and customize you rides with, they also gave you the option of horns, dashboard toys, and windshield decoration such as: Dice, Shoes, hanging avatars…The in-game play is very much improved, but something to note is that this is not a fully simulated racer. If you cup of tea is games like Forza and GT, then this title will pretty much be hit or miss. But if you enjoyed previous titles like Grid or even Fuel, then you will think this is Codemasters best.

What can you say about this game other than it ROCKS! This review is going to be short and to the point. You like racing? You like racing in the dirt? You like OBSCENE crashes? Well then, this game has it all. The difficulty is spot on. The graphics are off the hook! The only thing I DON’T like about this game is the whole MTV style presentation. Rally Racing IS NOT an extreme sport! It is a legitimate, professional racing discipline. Thsi game is crazy good at blending the simulation aspect with an arcade presentation. You can literally waste hour after hour trying to better your lap times, and this game never gets old. Dirt 2 is a better game than the last Dirt in almost every way. My only complaint about this game is the lackluster amount of treu rally events. HINT HINT Codemasters, you can make this game a true masterpiece with some well thought out DLC concentrating on rally events. HELL, why don’t you go all out and make it a full blown downloadable expansion?Thanks again Codemasters for another truely exhilerating racing experience. I can’t WAIT to get my hands on the new F1 game from you guys next year! Keep up tthe great work!
