This game is great to me. It’s perfect for a beginner like myself, cause I’ve never played any action/combat game before, like Devil May Cry or God of War. I wanted to ease my way into the genre. I love this game cause it allows you to upgrade your moves, kinda like an RPG game. You can either increase the range or power of a move…sometimes both. Another nice tough is that you can connect all your moves together, even if it’s with another weapon. There’s not a lot of combos, but this little bit makes up for it. You can connect just about any moves & make up your own combos. The only thing I didn’t like about this game is the puzzles. My friend LOVES puzzles, but I hate them, & this game has them in spades. I’ll love the game until I run into a puzzle…then I’ll hate the game :P.
This game is really cool to play, just don’t start it in the most difficult mode, as it gets insanely difficult at just some parts where it’s frustrating to get stuck. Play it normal, then after beating it, up the ante.
Fan and will play again
It took a while to get used to this game, but once you get started, it is a fun game! The second darksiders falls way short! Get your money’s worth and do yourself a favor; get this game if you have not played it.
Darksiders is a great game! Short and sweet, this is like The Legend of Zelda (3D versions, of course) for grown ups. Of course I still think Zelda is awesome for grown ups as well…
From the opening sequence to the end of the game, it’s a solid action/adventure game. It plays very much like Legend of Zelda or Castlevania in that you have to collect certain items and can revisit previous areas to explore for hidden or previously unattainable treasure. The graphics are great, if not outstanding, and the enemies are well-animated. There’s never any slow-down, and the character models move smoothly. The voice acting is very well done given the at-times corny script, but overall the story is delivered solidly and in-tact. It’s a very fast playthrough. I completed the game in a single weekend in my spare time between home improvement projects. But it’s very satisfying and replayability stands on its own merits. I almost wish I hadn’t chosen the hardest difficulty for the first playthrough just so that I would have had to go through the whole game again. If you don’t want to have to play it a second time, choosing the highest difficulty won’t really affect game play: combat is simple and straightforward and once you’ve seen an enemy enough times you can take it down quickly without taking much damage even on harder settings. The final boss is pretty much a push-over if you’ve taken the time to collect everything and learn how to effectively use War.The setting of the game is also epic. You’re playing as War, one of the Four Horseman, and you eventually meet up with his horse, Ruin. You’re travelling through a post-apocalyptic city, kick butt and leaving the name.
I have played A LOT of 360 games since I got on board in 2005 and I consider myself an avid gamer. Well… Maybe more of an addict rather. : ) And, without any question, this is the best game I’ve played thus far. Incredible!!!Out of the slew of retail and XBLA games I’ve played, Darksiders is by far the best I’ve played. Absolutely perfect on every level. The graphics are amazing, sound is incredible and the gameplay is addictive and fun. I mean REAL addictive and REAL fun. Absolute pure joy! The puzzles are imaginative and fun. There are many things to unlock. i.e. The Chronomancer ability, which slows down time to allow you to open a gate and get through it before it shuts. Another thing to mention is the duration of the game. I played on Apocalyptic difficulty and finished the game with every achievement unlocked in just under 26 hours. And, I only spent 5 hours in combat. The combat is a blast, but that’s not the guts of the game. Puzzle solving, getting from here to there, etc. is the bulk of this game. I’m not a big fan of games trying to give you your money’s worth by making you play for 100 hours. 25 to 30 hours and I’m ready to be done with it and move on to something else. Granted, I may just give this game a second playthrough. Anyhow… I’m starting to ramble. If you are a true gamer or not, pick this game up. This is a must have addition to your collection. Trust me!!!
I bought this game a while ago, and still play it over and over. This is truly a remarkable game, it has a great plot, graphics and characters. I love the difficulty even on Easy because no matter what you’re going to have to stock up and restart boss battles and challenges. War is a compelling character that fits really well in this post-apocalyptic world, driven by vengeance and duty. I wish it had been a little longer so I could have leveled things up more though. Overall, this was an amazing game with amazing graphics, plot, characters, and backgrounds. I can’t wait for Darksiders II to come out next year!
Hack and slash! What’s not to like? Looking forward to the sequal, Darksiders 2. Plenty of fun for many ages.
