I heard a lot of mixed/negative things about Dark Souls 2 so I was hesitant to get it. But after finishing it, I can say with full confidence: it is my favorite of the series.
It’s Dark Souls that should be enough for you. When this game first came out for PS3/Xbox360 it wasn’t really well liked. But with patches and the DLC it has turned around a good amount. The first Dark Souls still holds a little more enjoyment for me but this is still a game you shouldn’t pass up.
This game is awesome still playing it and loving each area and challenge my Cleric has entered. DS 3 I also own and it’s also an excellent game. DS (Dark Souls) remastered is due out This May 25, looking forward to completing my collection of the Dark Soul series

I said ‘I will wait for it to go on sale’.But PS4 has barely any games on it and I greatly enjoyed the original. So let me say this:this is the first re-release that actually felt like a re-release. the graphics were great; a great game to display the difference between the ps3 engine and ps4. my favorite area was always the shrine of amana and it is beautiful. But the best part was the new areas [which I never played; never bought the DLC don’t really like the idea of it], and the replacement of enemies. It feels like a new game because of that. On the one hand, some areas were a little easier. Some areas wouldn’t be hard if, for instance, they hadn’t multiplied enemies or increased the number of dark spirit invasions.and sometimes you walk into an area only to run away because there is a scary looking new enemy there waiting to one hit you. lolz. And I am still wondering if any online players will actually ever lay a summon symbol in the belfry sol and that gargoyle fight is awful and my least favorite battle–and because it seems like the pvp invasions have increased greatly in that area. Finally, I had forgotten how easy the game is on the first play through so I cannot speak to the difficulty of completing it on new game plus yet.On a funny note, I was playing it after bloodborne and found myself making the awful mistake of thinking that my health was being restored by my hits. Silly. I have not found any of those rings that preserve your souls and then break yet [do th.
Very very good game. I have 1, 2 and 3 now and beat them all. Very exciting game
My son gave me money and asked me to order this game for him. I did, but before it arrived his human garbage mother took his PlayStation (that he paid for with his own money) and then she sold it and kept the money for herself. This is obviously not a reflection on the game itself which is phenomenal. The weakest in the franchise, but even the "weakest" in an amazing series is still an awesome product. I cannot recommend this franchise enough. It’s challenging, addictive, rage-inducing, and among the best the industry has to offer. Also, the Scholar of the First Sin edition is significantly harder in the beginning than the standard edition was.
Dark Souls II is the sequel to Dark Souls, which is the spiritual successor to Demon’s Souls. Both of the aforementioned games were masterpieces in my opinion, so I had high expectations for Dark Souls II. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met when Dark Souls II was first released. What exactly were my expectations? I wanted a game that is challenging but fair, a beautiful world that you can explore freely (more or less), and a story line that makes one yearn for more. The original release of Dark Souls II was certainly not a bad game, but it felt hollow (pun intended) compared to the original Dark Souls. There were a lot of issues that made the "game feel "cheap" compared to the original. Fortunately, this updated version while still technically the same game is VASTLY improved!SINGLE-PLAYER EXPERIENCE############################Let me say that Dark Souls II has an amazing player-versus-player options. There are lots of "covenants" you can join to invade other players, or help other players. The reason I prefer to play offline is because I enjoy being immersed in the world all to my own. I do not want to deal with real players (although again, I have nothing against those that love it). I like the story (Dark Souls has a deep story, even if it is told via minimalism) and find fighting other players a bit dull to be honest. This of course also means that in a "tough" fight you can not summon others to help you. Also, when you are traversin.
This game has a larger variety of strong builds. Even though everything seems slower than the first Dark Souls game, the weapons still hit hard, and learning how to counter boss moves is fulfilling as always.Be wary, though. There are a lot of ambushes, traps, and unfair fights. SotFS has more enemy fodder than the original version of Dark Souls 2. You will eventually get swarmed when you’re not expecting it.ALSO, the fall damage is very sensitive. Dropping down 10 feet could kill you from full health. If you decide to buy DS2: SotFS, fight all the optional bosses because those were the most epic moments.
Great game for 15$
