My kid prefers the mat over the controller any day. It’s really easy to "hook" up all you do is plug the USB into the controller port and you’re ready to start dancing.
The mat works well, but it’s a bit tricky to use on the harder difficulties. It just keeps sliding everywhere.
Love it. I’m a newbie to DDR and am using it as my winter workout until the weather is nice enough for outdoor exercise. I’ve used it on carpet and tile at the beginner and basic levels. I can see how a "power user" might find issue with the pad, but as a mere mortal I find that the pad works just fine. We’ve purchased two, so we can have dance offs at our nerdy grownup dinner parties. Good times. I recommend.

Got 2 of these, works great for Xbox 360. Occasionally we slip around, but we haven’t felt the need to modify it yet as other users have suggested. That being said, we are not as advanced probably! Works great for beginners.
