First off i’m not an avid FPS fan, i’m more of a classic Doom and wolfenstein gamer. But after having beat Untold Legends, Mercury, and Metal Gear Acid i was ready for something new and different. Coded Arms delivered. Graphically this game is very impressive for the little sleek PSP handheld. another reviewer said that almost all areas look the same and are drab, this is true, however in the “Ruins” world you jack into, its very colorfull and very stunning visually. As far as gameplay value it was repetitive in the same way most other psp games are , for example, most people are saying that Untold Legends is just a hack and slash with minimal plot. It’s true, however it is sooo fun that the minimal story doesn’t hinder the overall fun. The same thing can be said for Coded Arms. This game is definately worth the money, i was very leary for my first hour or so into it thinking it wasnt, but that’s just cause the controls take some getting used to. once you practice for a while it becomes second nature and that is where the real fun comes in. I’m probably 2/3rd through the game right now, and its pretty tough, but also a lot of fun, especially considering its easily the equivalent of a console game for you to play on the go. You just can’t beat that. I feel that even after the “novelty” of the portable hi-quality graphically intensive game systems wears off, people will still look back on this as a solid release. Definately worth the praise its achieved.
Just simply loved this game. Controls was a little getting use to but after you get use to them it’s was time to kick some ass!!! Wicked game!
First of all, this is more of a preview because its the morning of the release day for Coded arms, and im waiting to go pick my reserved copy up at EB Games. Of what I have heard coded arms will be about a 7 out of ten. These stats are from magazines like EGM, PSM, and websites like Gamestop and EB games home site. The storyline of Coded arms is based on an error in a police/marine training program. You are a hacker trying to stop the bug from getting to big. The overall gameplay is quite good and I myself give it 8/10 stars. The flaws of the game are mostly based on the PSP’s control scheme, which is not really built for an FPS(first person shooter). The gameplay is kind of repetetive, but it grows on you. There will be a multiplayer Wi-fi capability that supports up to 8 players at most. It will also have a random level generator so you won’t play the same level so much. This, I don’t like because in other FPS games I have played such as Halo, Doom 3, etc. have certain levels that are fun to replay and this won’t let you do that. Still, I give it good but not better than the other shooters from XBOX and PS2, but if you want a shooter for PSP now, buy Coded arms. The other great thing is that its only $40.00. If you are willing to wait what will probably be another delay to next year, buy GTA: Liberty City stories which will be first class.
Coded Arms is lots of fun and worth $40. The graphics are great and the gameplay is awsome. The controls take time to get used to. I think d-pad (moving)and analog stick (item switching) are the easiest. Map Generation is cool. If you die the level is totally different. An elevator appeared in a room which didn’t have one before. It does repeat a little. For example you have to do the same thing twice somtimes. Music is just terrible. Dont listen to it!It does warn you when an enemy is a room by playing this terrible racket. You get lots of weapons. There are five types phyiscal, light, virus, heat, energy. You can upgrade them to. Enemy are supposed to have weaknesses against some weapons. Never seams that way though. The game does copy Halo in some ways. There is a grenade that sticks to enemys, and soilder with a sheild. Just wanted to inform on that. This is probally one of the first good games coming for the psp.
Really great game. Plays really well, considering the PSP only has the one stick controller. Each map or level seems to be randomly generated and its not totally linear. Multiple paths through the map. Essentially you just have to kill all the enemies or the one main enemy (gate keeper) that opens the portal to the next level. Really enjoying it.
A very cool classic title for the psp. Only thing i dont like about it is that all of the action is basically simulated within what is said to be a computer mainframe where one can actually die (in the story.) Other than the one drawback in the fiction, its a fun and interesting game.
I have this game and its awesome, the graphics, the shooting the gameplay and all.I will recomend you people to buy this game and when your playing to put the controls like this:moving-Dpad,aiming-control stick,shooting-L and R buttons,jump-X button.I put them like that and its easy. This game has some repetitive areas but I dont care cause I have over 30 weapons to select, you’ll never get tired of shooting all those enemies with your weapons because its kinda cool when you let the thrigger on and it continues shooting, although your ammo will end its cool. The giant bugs and the giant computer bot is a bit difficult but its still cool.
This game is fun to play. Fast paced, futuristic 1st person shooter that provides hours of entertainment. You fight in a virtual reality world against computer generated foes and viruses. Great soundtrack that sets the tone for this fast paced shooter.
i had my doubts about how the developers were going to setup the controls with only one jowstick, but they managed to do it just fine. it almost makes me with that fireteam bravo does the same thing. you get used to it pretty fast. with the awesome graphics and wide selection of weapons, this is a great game.
Coded Arms makes the most of what it is given by the PSP. Lets just face it, it’s really difficult to make a decent FPS without 2 analog sticks. Konami was able to, here’s the review:Graphics: 7/10. The graphics are great. All of the characters, weapons and environments are amazingly drawn. The reason why it gets a 7… color. While the characters are colorful, the entire game environment is really dull. Almost everything is grey or brown.Gameplay: 9/10. This took me by suprise, its way better than I ever expected. Controling your character is actually quite easy and smooth, once you get used to the odd concept of using the right-side buttons for aiming. The game also helps you aim by moving the reticule to the enemy if you are aiming close to it. This helps close the gap between using an analog stick and buttons to aim. The level generator is great too. I was expecting just random boxes dispersed across a wide open room, but the generator strategically places elevators, doors, ledges, towers, and all kinds of boxes and explosives (everything from a tiny barrel to a giant gas-filled water tower). Even so, the gameplay does get a little repetitive after a while, but the whole concept of getting new weapons, testing them out, and upgrading keeps it entertaining.Sound: 7/10. Most of the weapons have great sound, good enough for console games. The music, however, is a little annoying. First of all, you know if you are about to have an engagement with an enemy, b.
